Atlanta recalled Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Elder will draw the start for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee. The right-hander has struggled mightily in his eight outings with the big club this season, putting up a 6.35 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 39.2 innings. With Max Fried (forearm) out and Reynaldo Lopez's (forearm) status iffy, Elder could be needed for an additional start this weekend versus the Marlins.

Atlanta will recall Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Tuesday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Elder already joined Atlanta's taxi squad in Milwaukee on Monday, so it comes as little surprise that he'll get the starting nod for the second game of the series. If Elder fares well Tuesday in his return to the big club and if Reynaldo Lopez (forearm) is forced to miss his next turn through the rotation, Atlanta could have both Grant Holmes and Elder make starts against the Marlins over the weekend. The outlooks for both Elder and Holmes beyond this week are murkier, however, especially if both Lopez and Max Fried (forearm) are able to move past their current injuries. Elder has previously made eight starts for Atlanta this season, going 1-4 with a 6.35 ERA and 1.64 WHIP across 39.2 innings.

Elder is expected to be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Tuesday in Milwaukee, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Atlanta hasn't yet announced a starter for Tuesday's contest, Elder was spotted in the team's clubhouse prior to Monday's game. With Max Fried (forearm) not eligible to return from the injured list until next week and Reynaldo Lopez's (forearm) status up in the air, Elder could be needed for additional starts with the big club beyond Tuesday.

Atlanta optioned Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Elder served as the 27th man for Atlanta in Saturday's doubleheader with the Cardinals and started the second game of the twin bill, taking a loss while serving up six earned runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings. Though he'll head back to the minors, Elder could garner consideration for a return to the Atlanta rotation as a replacement for Max Fried (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday. However, since Elder would be on only three days' rest when Fried's next turn in the rotation is scheduled to come up Wednesday, expect Atlanta to have another pitcher start that game.

Elder (1-4) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, coughing up six runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
The nine strikeouts were a season high for Elder, and his highest total since he fanned nine Pirates on Sept. 8 of last season, but Elder also served up homers to Nolan Gorman and Brendan Donovan in a 9-5 victory for the Cardinals. Elder is saddled with a 6.35 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB through 39.2 innings over his eight big-league starts in 2024, and he's likely headed back to Triple-A Gwinnett following this outing.

Atlanta added Elder to its roster ahead of his start in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Elder hasn't enjoyed the same success in the majors this season (5.71 ERA) as he had last year (3.81 ERA), but he'll be called upon nonetheless to get Atlanta through the final game of Saturday's twin bill. The 25-year-old right-hander already faced St. Louis earlier this season, taking a loss after allowing two runs in six innings while striking out four batters. He'll likely be sent back to Triple-A Gwinnett following the end of the game.

Atlanta will recall Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Friday's game against St. Louis being pushed back to Saturday due to rain, Elder will join Atlanta for a spot start in the nightcap. The 25-year-old righty owns a 5.71 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 34.2 innings in the majors this season, though he allowed just two runs in six frames when he started against the Cardinals on June 26.

Atlanta optioned Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Elder was called up to make a spot start Monday. a move made to give Chris Sale an extra day of rest. After allowing three runs across five-plus innings Monday, Elder will be returned to Triple-A. Elder has a 5.71 ERA across seven starts with Atlanta, recording a 24:13 K:BB across 34.2 innings.

Elder tossed five-plus innings against Arizona on Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter in a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Elder was recalled from Triple-A ahead of the contest to make a spot start as Chris Sale was pushed back an extra day for rest reasons. Elder was outstanding through five frames, allowing just two hits and no runs. However, he lost that momentum in the sixth, allowing four straight batters to reach base (on two singles and two walks) to surrender a run before getting the hook. Two more runs were charged to the right-hander's ledger following his departure, souring what had been an impressive outing. Elder may return to the minors in short order with Atlanta's rotation lined up until the All-Star break.

Atlanta recalled Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett, and he'll start Monday's game against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Chris Sale had been listed as Atlanta's scheduled starter for Monday, but the big club will build in some extra rest for the All-Star lefty and have him take the hill Tuesday. In his last start in the majors June 26 against the Cardinals, Elder took the loss while allowing two runs on four hits and striking out four over six innings. The 24-year-old right-hander is 1-3 across six major-league starts this season with a 5.76 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 29.2 innings.
