Mitchell threw two scoreless innings Sunday in his big league debut. Mitchell right now is in long relief and mop-up role, but given the Yankees' attrition rate, he might graduate to a more significant role in the long run.

Mitchell was recalled by the Yankees from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Bare on Friday. The Yankees' rotation is such a mess, that it's not inconceivable to imagine Mitchell making a start or two, however it seems likely that he'll be used as the long man out of the bullpen at first, especially with Esmil Rogers and his 5.84 ERA starting Friday's game. Mitchell posted a 2.88 ERA in five starts at Triple-A, but he was much worse in 14 appearances at Double-A earlier in the season, where he posted a 4.84 ERA.

Mitchell was scratched from his start at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Bare and will be promoted to the majors, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports. Mitchell has split time between Double-A and Triple-A this season, even making a brief appearance with the Yankees despite not pitching in a game. He may finally get an opportunity to pitch out of the bullpen for the Yankees. The team will require a corresponding move to bring both Mitchell and Esmil Rogers to the majors, which will likely come sometime Thursday night or Friday.
