The Marlins placed Hoeing (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 2.
EDGE Analysis
Hoeing was off to a hot start to the season with a 1.83 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB over 19.2 innings. It's unclear whether his left hamstring strain will keep him on the shelf beyond his return date of May 17. The Marlins recalled right-hander Darren McCaughan from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move.

Hoeing gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless sixth inning Sunday to record his first hold of the season in a win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old right-hander has been one of the few bullpen arms for Miami to have success early in the season, and Hoeing sports a 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB through 14 innings. Sunday's hold was only the second of his career, but he could work his way into more consistent high-leverage spots if he continues to get the job done, and the likes of Andrew Nardi (9.31 ERA) and Anthony Bender (8.31 ERA) continue to struggle.

Hoeing has given up two runs over 8.2 innings with a 10:3 K:BB and zero home runs allowed in Grapefruit League action this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old right-hander spent his first full season in the majors last season, stumbling to a 5.48 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 53:25 K:BB through 70.2 innings in a low-leverage role for Miami. Hoeing should handle a similar assignment in 2024, but he does have minor-league options remaining and further struggles could get him bumped back to Triple-A Jacksonville, especially once the Marlins' staff gets healthier.

Hoeing has been left off the Marlins' roster for their NL Wild Card Series matchup against Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Hoeing was a valuable swingman at times this season in Miami, but he surrendered 19 runs -- 18 earned -- over his final 13.2 innings. Johnny Cueto has also been excluded from the roster for this best-of-three series, with the Marlins opting to carry Ryan Weathers instead.

Hoeing surrendered nine earned runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out one over three innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 16-1 loss to the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Though he was spared the loss -- which went to fellow reliever Steven Okert -- Hoeing was responsible for most of the damage that occurred in the Brewers' 12-run second inning. He was charged with eight earned runs in the inning, then gave up one more run in the top of the fifth before being pulled from the contest. After the ugly relief outing, Hoeing's season ERA jumped from 4.18 to 5.17.

Hoeing did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk over 4.1 innings against Atlanta while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
Hoeing struggled right out of the gate, allowing hits to each of the first three batters he faced -- two of which went for home runs as Atlanta jumped out an early 3-0 lead. However, the right-hander would actually go on to retire 10 of the next 11 batters he faced before being relieved by Steven Okert with one out in the top of the fifth. It marked Hoeing's longest outing since Aug. 21, and he's now surrendered at least one run in three of his last four appearances, posting a 6:3 K:BB over that stretch.

Hoeing (2-2) got the win Sunday against the Nationals after allowing one run on four hits and a walk while striking out five over four innings.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins treated Sunday as a bullpen game and Hoeing entered in the second inning after JT Chargois was used as an opener. The Nationals got a run across on him with a single, a double and a sacrifice in the third, but Hoeing was otherwise dominant. His five strikeouts tied a season high, and he's allowed just two runs while posting a 9:2 K:BB in 10.2 innings since being recalled Aug. 14. It's likely he continues to occupy a bulk relief role for the Marlins with their starting depth being tested by injuries.

Hoeing was recalled Monday from Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old right-hander will replace Huascar Brazoban, who has landed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. Hoeing carries a 4.57 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 35:18 K:BB across 45.1 innings (six starts, 17 relief appearances) this season in the majors.

The Marlins optioned Hoeing to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
After the acquisition of David Robertson from the Mets, Miami will send Hoeing to the minors to free up a roster spot. The 26-year-old righty has a 4.57 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 45.1 frames this season and could return to the Marlins later this season if they need a fresh arm.

Hoeing gave up two earned runs on two hits while striking out one over 1.2 innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
After making his final four appearances before the All-Star break as a starter, Hoeing looks like he'll settle back into a relief role to open the Marlins' second-half schedule. The Marlins have three off days coming up over the next two weeks and are also likely to get Edward Cabrera (shoulder) back from the injured list at some point during the stretch, lessening the need for Miami to keep Hoeing in the fold as its No. 5 starter.
