Bruce Chen struggled in a no-decision against the White Sox on Friday, allowing six runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings. The White Sox jumped all over Chen in the first inning, with Adam Dunn and Alex Rios each blasting home runs. He then settled in nicely before surrendering a three-run bomb to Dayan Viciedo in the fifth inning. Chen has now allowed six earned runs in each of his last three starts, now sporting an unremarkable 5.50 ERA on the season. He shouldn't be owned or started in any fantasy formats for his next start against the Mariners at home on Wednesday.

Bruce Chen's struggles continued in Saturday's loss to the Tigers, as he surrendered six runs on nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work. Chen struck out three and walked two in the abbreviated outing. Prince Fielder's two-run shot got the scoring started in the first inning, then the Tigers added three in the second and another in the fourth before Chen was finally lifted. It was the third time in his last five outings that Chen has allowed six or more earned runs. He'll look to improve on his 7-8 record and inflated 5.22 ERA in the second half of the season.

Bruce Chen was lousy in Sunday's loss to the Twins, allowing six runs on six hits and three home runs in just 5 2/3 innings. He struck out five and walked one in falling to 7-7. He served up a pair of solo home runs to Trevor Plouffe. Coming off a June where he posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 26 1/3 innings, Chen will get the Tigers in Detroit on Friday.

Bruce Chen yielded two runs (one earned) over seven innings Tuesday in a victory over the Rays. He struck out five and gave up five hits and a walk. Chen's nit-picking style of pitching usually doesn't cut it against aggressive offenses, but he effectively attacked the zone more in this game. Now 7-6 with a 4.53 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, Chen is playable in AL-only formats but shouldn't be used in mixed leagues.

Bruce Chen turned in an ugly performance against the Cardinals on Saturday, getting hammered for six runs on seven hits in just 1 2/3 innings of work. Chen didn't walk or strike out a batter in the game. Matt Holliday and Yadier Molina each blasted two-run homers in the second inning, putting Chen in a big hole early on. As most advanced metrics astutely point out, Chen just simply isn't as good of a pitcher as his numbers indicated a season ago, and this regression should have been expected. His nit-picking style of pitching simply doesn't cut it if opposing offenses aren't being aggressive and expanding the zone, and the Cardinals punished him in this one. With the loss, Chen's ERA moves up to a very unremarkable 5.05. He shouldn't be a consideration in all but the deepest of AL-only leagues at this point for his next outing against these same Cardinals at home on Friday.

Bruce Chen allowed three runs on four hits in five innings of Sunday's loss to the Pirates. He struck out five and walked one in falling to 5-6. Chen settled down after becoming Andrew McCutchen's latest victim on a two-run homer in the first, but was pinch hit for by Clint Robinson in the sixth after throwing just 79 pitches. Chen has failed to record more than 15 outs in three of his past four outings, and will bring a 4.44 ERA into his start against the Cardinals next weekend.

Bruce Chen held down the mighty Rangers offense Monday, limiting them to just one run on five hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings in the 3-1 victory. It's a borderline shocking result from a guy that had given up 15 runs over his last three starts. Chen served up a solo homer to Nelson Cruz in the fourth, but that's all the Rangers could muster against the soft-tossing southpaw. Though his ERA remains high at 4.34, Chen sports a 1.15 WHIP due to his stinginess with walks thus far. He'll get the D'Backs Saturday.

Bruce Chen held the Red Sox in check in Wednesday's 4-3 win, allowing three runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. Chen struck out five and walked none in picking up his first win of the season. He had allowed six runs in back-to-back starts coming into this evening. Typically a solid bet for a quality start, Chen will bring a 4.83 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 27/7 K/BB ratio into his Tuesday start in Texas. He'll be best left on the bench for that one.

Bruce Chen was hit hard for the second consecutive outing on Friday, allowing six runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings against the Yankees. Chen struck out four and walked one in the game. He doesn't possess overpowering stuff and needs to rely on his pinpoint control to have success. When he catches too much of the plate, as he did on Friday, the results aren't pretty. Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter each took Chen deep on the night. He'll look to rebound from this disaster and get back on track when he faces the Red Sox next week.

Bruce Chen pitched well but picked up a loss Monday against the Blue Jays, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out three and was hurt by the longball, serving up a pair. Chen is 0-2 for the floundering Royals, but he sports a tidy 2.52 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Those marks won't continue, but he's deserved better fate. Chen will get the Twins over the weekend.
