His ERA now stands at 8.63 as we wait to see if Baltimore will give him another shot.

The young left-hander was demoted at the end of June after posting an ugly 8.77 ERA over six starts, but has given up just four runs over last 23 innings at the Triple-A level. The Orioles are hoping he can finish the season strong.

Updating an earlier item, Brian Matusz is now expected to take the recently demoted Chris Tillman's place in the Orioles rotation. It's doubtful Matusz has accomplished everything he needs to in the minors, but there's no doubt the results have been better of late, while his fastball has reportedly been regaining some of its lost miles per hour. If he's recalled on Tuesday as expected, Matusz will get the A's in Oakland. He'll be worth a long look in all formats despite his struggles earlier this season.
