Yankees released RHP Brian Gordon.
The 35-year-old right-hander hasn't appeared in the Major Leagues since the 2011 season and posted a 4.75 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 50/28 K/BB ratio over 77 2/3 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. It's unclear if he'll look to continue his career elsewhere, or if this is the end of the line for him.

Yankees signed RHP Brian Gordon to a minor league contract.
No word on whether he'll receive an invite to spring training. Gordon was with the Yankees organization in 2011 and actually made two starts at the majors league level, but he has pitched in the Korean Professional League for the past two years. The 35-year-old figures to serve as organizational depth in 2014.

Athletics signed RHP Brian Gordon to a minor league contract.
The deal includes an invite to major league spring training. The 34-year-old spent the 2012 season pitching for the SK Wyverns of the Korean Professional League. He's unlikely to crack the A's opening day roster, but should function as additional depth at the Triple-A level.

Brian Gordon's rights have been purchased by the SK Wyverns of the Korean Professional League.
The Yankees will receive cash considerations in return. Gordon, 32, posted a 5.23 ERA over two starts with the Yankees before being sent back down to the minor league last month. It was his first appearance in the major leagues since 2008.

Yankees optioned RHP Brian Gordon to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Gordon wasn't terrible in two starts, but it was easy to see when he was skipped over earlier this week that he was going to get the boot when Bartolo Colon returned. He'll return to a 1.14 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 56/7 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 Triple-A innings.

The Yankees will take advantage of Monday's scheduled off day and skip Brian Gordon in the rotation.
Gordon allowed four runs (including three homers) over five innings in his second start of the season last week against the Reds. Freddy Garcia, A.J. Burnett and CC Sabathia will take on the Brewers in this week's three-game interleague series.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after Wednesday's game that Brian Gordon will likely remain in the starting rotation.
Gordon struggled in his second major league start, allowing four runs on five hits (including three home runs) over five innings in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Reds. "I haven't sat and thought with the extra days off, what do you do?" said Girardi. "Right now, I have plans for him to start again." The Yankees have a scheduled off-day next Monday, so they could opt to skip him in the starting rotation. However, odds are he'll stick around until either Bartolo Colon or Phil Hughes is ready to return from the disabled list.

Brian Gordon's second career start didn't go nearly as well as his first, as the journeyman righty was tagged for four runs on five hits, three of which were home runs, in New York's 10-2 loss to the Reds on Wednesday evening.
He served up a pair of bombs to Chris Heisey, and a third to Jonny Gomes. Gordon was a nice story after beating the Rangers in his Yankees debut last Thursday, but it's hard to envision him coming into any value in AL-only leagues this season.

In his Yankees debut, Brian Gordon gave up two runs in 5 1/3 innings Thursday against the Rangers.
Gordon held his own, but with seven hits allowed, three walks and two hit batters, he let a lot of Rangers reach base. Two caught stealings, one in the first and one for his lone out in the sixth, helped him a bunch. Gordon will stay in the rotation after this one, but he's not a great play in AL-only leagues.
