Broderick was traded to the Royals on Friday. Broderick signed a minor league deal with the Angels earlier in December, but now will be shipped to the Royals for Johnny Giavotella. He spent 2014 in independent ball, posting a 2.31 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 65 strikeouts over 62.1 innings. He will likely begin the 2015 season at either Double-A or Triple-A.

Broderick signed a minor league deal with the Angels, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Broderick hasn't pitched at any level since 2013, posting a 5.21 ERA for Double-A Harrisburg in 38 innings in his last minor league stint. The 28-year-old will likely serve as organizational depth for the Angels in 2015.
