Dodgers reassigned INF Brian Barden, OF Jeremy Moore and INF/OF Omar Luna to minor league camp. No surprises here. Barden batted a robust .478/.538/.565 this spring, but he was never a real Opening Day roster candidate.

Dodgers signed INF Brian Barden to a minor league contract. Barden hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2010, when he batted just .179/.281/.179 in 32 plate appearances with the Marlins. He will probably spend the entire 2013 campaign at Triple-A Albuquerque.

Brian Barden has signed a contract with the Hiroshima Carp of Nippon Professional Baseball. Barden opted out of his minor league pact with the Rangers on July 1 after batting .357/.403/.556 in 232 plate appearances at Triple-A Round Rock but failing to earn a promotion to the major leagues. The 30-year-old infielder should do well overseas.
