Brett Myers gave up hits to all three Giants he faced in taking a loss in Saturday's 12-inning game. Myers has given up runs in a mere eight of his 34 appearances to date, but this now makes four losses for him. He hasn't managed a single strikeout in his four appearances this month, and unless he looks really strong over the next couple of weeks, it's hard to imagine there will be much demand for his services at the trade deadline.

Brett Myers was blasted for five runs on eight hits over just 2/3 of an inning in a non-save chance Monday. Yikes. Myers' ERA went from 1.99 to 3.86, and his WHIP went from 0.84 to 1.16 after tonight's disaster. It's an outing that won't help his trade value, but he should still have ample appeal at the deadline.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Brett Myers' $10 million 2013 option vests if the closer finishes a pre-set amount of games. That number hasn't been divulged, but Rosenthal believes it's between 40-50. Right now, Myers is on pace to finish 57 games, which should encourage Houston to move him to a club that will use him as a setup man, ala the Francisco Rodriguez trade of last season. The right-handed Myers is 13-for-14 in save opportunities with a 1.86 ERA. He should have considerable trade value at the deadline.

Brett Myers earned his 10th save of the season in Saturday evening's 6-5 defeat of the Rangers. Myers struck out Ian Kinsler, allowed a single to Elvis Andrus, then induced a double play ground ball out of Josh Hamilton. The right-hander is now 10-for-11 in save opportunities this season with a 1.93 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. He should have considerable trade value at the deadline.

Brett Myers recorded his ninth save in nine chances, setting down the Pirates in order on Friday. He's been extremely impressive since transitioning to the closer's role, and is building quite a bit of value on the trade market. Expect Myers to be wearing a new uniform by the end of July.

Brett Myers locked down his seventh save of the season against the Cardinals on Friday, needing just eight pitches to get through the ninth inning. Myers has been extremely impressive in his role as the Astros closer, now a perfect 7-for-7 in save opportunities with an impressive 1.04 ERA. With so many teams around the league having problems at the back of their bullpens, trade rumors will continue to swirl around Myers until he is inevitably moved. Either way, he has the tools to succeed in the closer's role regardless of what team he's on.

Astros GM Jeff Luhnow told Houston's FOX 26 that there's "nothing to" reports of Brett Myers being shopped. USA Today's Bob Nightengale tweeted Saturday that the Astros had already made Myers available via trade and were hoping to take advantage of the many teams hampered by early-season closer issues. That kind of talk might be premature here in mid-April, but the 32-year-old right-hander is almost certain to be dealt at some point this season by the rebuilding 'Stros.

According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Astros are shopping closer Brett Myers. With the recent developments concerning Brian Wilson's damaged elbow, it will be interesting to see if the Giants have any interest in Myers. Other teams with a void in their rotation may also be interested in the former starter's services. Fantasy owners who have lost a closer recently may want to speculate on David Carpenter or Wilton Lopez, who would likely be the top candidates to close should Myers get traded.

Astros closer Brett Myers allowed three runs in an inning Friday versus the Blue Jays. Myers has yet to have a clean appearance in three trips to the mound, giving up five runs in all. The Astros are pretty much locked into giving him a long look in the ninth inning, but he needs to be better than this.

Astros manager Brad Mills announced Tuesday that Brett Myers will be the team's closer in 2012. Brandon Lyon has been demoted to a setup role. It's an odd decision given that Myers was one of Houston's most durable and reliable starters in 2011, but the Astros are an organization that needs to get younger all-around and this should clear a rotation spot for an arm with upside (like 21-year-old Jordan Lyles). Myers, 31, posted a 4.46 ERA and 160/57 K/BB ratio in 216 innings last season.
