Cubs prospect Brett Jackson thinks he's ''big-league-ready,'' but acknowledged that he ''still has some convincing to do'' with the front office. "My approach is I have a really great opportunity and I'm going to try as hard as I can to seize it," Jackson said. "That being said, there are a lot of decisions outside my control. I think I'm big league ready and I'm 100 percent confident in my abilities." The Cubs are not in any rush to promote prospects before their time, but Jackson has shown an impressive combination of speed and power in his first two full minor league seasons. It's not unrealistic to think he could push Marlon Byrd or David DeJesus for a spot on the big league roster.

Cubs prospect outfielder Brett Jackson was pulled from Team USA's game against South Korea on Friday with an apparent foot injury. Jackson, 23, is listed among the more attractive pieces the Red Sox could pursue as compensation for Theo Epstein. While not an elite talent, his combination of plate discipline, speed and power should make him a solid above-average regular. Epstein is expected to bring some other Red Sox employees along with him to Chicago, which is likely why negotiations are still ongoing.

The Cubs didn't include prospect outfielder Brett Jackson among their September call-ups, but interim general manager Randy Bush said Tuesday that he could have a chance to make the team during spring training. "The sky's the limit," said Bush. "It's not out of the realm of possibility that this guy comes to camp and makes the team. That's how quickly he's progressing." Jackson, 23, batted .274/.379/.490 with 20 homers, 58 RBI, 21 stolen bases and an .869 OPS over 512 plate appearances between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa this season. Marlon Byrd is under contract next season, but the Cubs would likely shift him to right field if Jackson impresses during spring training.

Brett Jackson has been promoted to Triple-A Iowa. The promising outfielder prospect posted a .256/.373/.443 batting line with 10 home runs and 32 RBI in 67 games this season at Double-A Tennessee. Jackson could climb his way to the major leagues in early 2012.
