Brett Jackson had two doubles, two RBI and two walks versus the Brewers on Thursday. Of course, he struck out in his other at-bat, bringing his total of 37 strikeouts in 74 official at-bats. However, he's certainly been pretty good when not striking out, collecting four homers, five doubles and 14 walks through 23 games.

Brett Jackson belted a solo homer in Monday's loss to the Brewers. He also drew a pair of walks. Jackson has shown the good and the bad since his promotion earlier this month, batting just .215 with 32 strikeouts and four homers over 76 plate appearances. Three of those longballs have come in the last four games.

Brett Jackson doubled, drew a walk and stole a base in Sunday's loss to the Reds. The stolen base was first of Jackson's MLB career, while the walk was only his fourth in 51 plate appearances. Jackson swiped 91 bases in 402 career minor-league games, so the theft should be the first of many. Jackson has now contributed extra-base hits in back-to-back games for the first time since making his major-league debut on August 5, but is still hitting just .191/.255/.340. He's had only two multi-hit games.

Brett Jackson hit his first major league homer in the second half of Saturday's doubleheader with the Reds. Jackson went deep in the second inning off Reds starter Todd Redmond. The 24-year-old outfielder is batting just .182/.234/.318 in 12 games since his promotion, but the Cubs believe he could have a very bright future.

Brett Jackson didn't start Saturday following an outfield collision Friday. The Cubs are revealing only that he's dealing with general soreness. There would seem to be a good chance he'll be ready to return to the lineup Sunday. Jackson is batting .118/.250/.118 while striking out 11 times in his first 20 plate appearances for the Cubbies.

Leading off for the Cubs, Brett Jackson struck out all four times he was up Monday against the Padres. On a per at-bat basis, Jackson will likely strike out as often as any National Leaguer over the rest of the season. He might produce anyway and his power-speed combo makes him interesting in fantasy leagues, but growing pains should be expected.

The Cubs will promote outfield prospect Brett Jackson and infield prospect Josh Vitters from Triple-A Iowa. They're expected to meet the team in Los Angeles, though it's not clear if they'll be activated in time for Sunday's game or if the Cubs will wait until Monday in San Diego. Jackson, who is the more highly regarded prospect of the two, has batted .256/.338/.479 with 15 homers and 27 steals at Triple-A Iowa this season. He strikes out way too much, but his power/speed combo is intriguing. Vitters has put up a .304/.356/.513 batting line with 17 homers at the same level. It's doubtful the Cubs would promote them unless they planned to play them every day, so expect Jackson to be in center field and Vitters to be at third base regularly.

David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com reports that the Cubs are not calling up prospect outfielder Brett Jackson. At least not yet, anyway. Jackson was pulled from Monday's game for undisclosed reasons, but he's back in the lineup for a day game on Tuesday. If the Cubs find a taker for Alfonso Soriano, we're guessing he'll be on his way to Chicago.

Cubs' prospects Brett Jackson and Josh Vitters are expected to be promoted to the majors this season. "But it's not a given," general manager Jed Hoyer said. "Those guys need to force the issue. When they sort of really prove to us that they're ready and make it clear, then I think that's something we'll see. We really want to make that a precedent, of when a prospect really bangs on the door, they get up here."

Cubs outfield prospect Brett Jackson will open the 2012 regular season with Triple-A Iowa. Jackson is batting .385 in eight Cactus League games and registered a cool .869 OPS with 20 home runs in 115 games last year in the minor leagues. But the Cubs want him to get regular playing time, which he wouldn't get in Chicago. "It's just at-bats sometimes," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Wednesday. "Some of these guys get to the big leagues now before they get 2,000 at-bats in the Minor Leagues. You learn with more at-bats, tinkering."
