Anderson (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
He suffered a left shoulder strain before throwing a pitch in the second inning of Friday's game against the Blue Jays. In four starts with Oakland, he was 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA and eight strikeouts in 15.1 innings. This is the 11th time in Anderson's 10-year MLB career that he has landed on the disabled list. Ryan Dull was recalled from Triple-A as a corresponding move, but it is unclear who will slot into Anderson's spot in the rotation. Josh Lucas, who threw 3.2 innings in relief of Anderson, could be an option to get a spot start. Kendall Graveman, Frankie Montas and Daniel Gossett, who are all in the rotation at Triple-A, could also be options to join the big-league rotation.

Anderson left Friday's game after one inning due to a left shoulder strain, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Of the 10 times Anderson has been forced to the disabled list, none have been for a shoulder injury. Whether or not he can avoid the disabled list this time will depend on the severity of the strain. At the least, it seems extremely unlikely Anderson will be able to make his next scheduled start May 23 against Seattle, but expect a full update from Athletics doctors before Saturday's game.

Anderson left Friday's game after one inning after it appeared he was struggling to get his arm loose, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson lasted just 15 pitches. It's always concerning when somebody with an injury history as extensive as Anderson has to leave early for any reason, but we'll consider him day-to-day until team doctors are able to get a more extensive look at him.

Anderson, who'll start Friday's game against the Blue Jays, appears to have rediscovered his changeup after struggling early against the Yankees in his last outing, Susan Slusser of SFGate.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson's performances have run the gamut thus far across three trips to the mound. While he generated a quality start against the Mariners in his 2018 debut, he saw the Astros touch him up for nine runs (seven earned) in his second outing and endured a rocky first inning versus the Yankees his last time out. That may have been a blessing in disguise according to pitching coach Scott Emerson, who says that Anderson was forced to go to his changeup to get out of trouble and was highly effective with it the rest of the way against New York. "I've never seen him throw a changeup that good," Emerson said. "It's because he struggled with all his other pitches, so he had to keep throwing it - but now you develop confidence in that pitch and can throw it in situations that call for it, and that opens up his game a little more." Emerson added that Anderson's bullpen work in between starts is also being closely monitored, as there is concern about the veteran inadvertently taxing himself.

Anderson (0-2) got the loss against the Yankees on Sunday, yielding four earned runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking two as Oakland fell to New York 6-2.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was sharp in his first outing of the season after getting called up from Triple-A but he's struggled in back-to-back starts since, giving up 11 earned runs on 18 hits over just eight innings. He has an 8.16 ERA and a 2.02 WHIP in his 14.1 innings so far, so he can't be trusted as a fantasy stream until he demonstrates some sustained improvement on those numbers.

Anderson (0-1) was hammered for nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and three walks over three innings to take the loss Monday against Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was touched up for a three-run homer by George Springer, the biggest mistake of his day, but eight of the 10 Astros hits against Anderson were singles. He just couldn't miss bats. Anderson induced just two swinging strikes in 61 offerings, and it didn't matter that most of his misses were low in the zone, as Astros hitters were able to put enough mustard on them to make him pay anyway. It's tough to judge Anderson too harshly for falling to the reigning World Series champions, but he'll have to prove he can make hitters whiff if he's going to succeed in his comeback attempt. Anderson's next turn in the rotation is scheduled for Sunday against the Yankees, another tough test.

Anderson allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings but was left with a no-decision Wednesday against Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson's first start for the Athletics in five years may not have ended with a win, but it was a definite success. The slider that was once considered a $10 million pitch was back to its old form Wednesday, as Anderson drew a whopping nine whiffs on 35 sliders against the Mariners. It has been three years since Anderson was either healthy or effective for a significant period of time, so it's understandable if fantasy owners are slow to trust him, but the 30-year-old's comeback bid is looking strong and Wednesday's performance should earn him at least a couple more turns through the rotation.

Anderson was called up from Triple-A Nashville ahead of his start against Seattle on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
In a corresponding move, the club optioned Emilio Pagan to Triple-A. During four minor-league outings in April, Anderson posted a 1.89 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 25:2 K:BB in 19 innings.

Anderson will be recalled from Triple-A Nashville and start Wednesday's game against the Mariners, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson is set to join the back end of the the Athletics' rotation following the demotion of Kendall Graveman last week. The veteran lefty owns a 1.89 ERA over 19 innings with Nashville this season but posted a cumulative 6.34 ERA over 55.1 innings with the Cubs and Blue Jays last season. He can be left off your fantasy radar for the time being.

Anderson appears to be the leading candidate to join the Oakland rotation this week and will likely start either Wednesday in Seattle or Friday at home against Baltimore, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Athletics have a vacancy in their rotation after Kendall Graveman was optioned to Triple-A Nashville last week after turning in a 8.89 ERA and 1.84 WHIP through his first six starts of the season. While manager Bob Melvin hasn't formally tabbed Anderson as Graveman's replacement, the writing appears to be on the wall for the 30-year-old to receive a promotion after he had his turn in the rotation at Nashville skipped Monday in favor of Chris Bassitt. Anderson has certainly performed well enough in the Pacific Coast League to earn a look from the big club, as he has delivered a sparkling 1.89 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:2 K:BB across 19 frames. He also has an opt-out clause in his minor-league contract, offering further incentive for the Athletics to promote him to the big club.
