Morrow (shoulder) is not ready to go on a minor league rehab assignment yet, but could require two rehab starts when he is, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports. Morrow continues to work his way back from a shoulder issue, but hasn't moved along as quickly as the team hoped. His timetable should become more clear as he progresses in the process, but early-to-mid June is likely the earliest return date plausible at this point.

Morrow (shoulder) received a cortisone shot Thursday and could start playing catch in the next three to four days, MLB.com reports. Morrow was placed on the 15-day DL on May 3 due to right shoulder inflammation, but the cortisone shot should put him on track to begin throwing again. While he won't be ready to come off the disabled list when he's eligible, the fact that he could resume throwing over the weekend means that throwing bullpen sessions may be on the horizon.

Morrow (shoulder inflammation) has no immediate plans to resume throwing, the Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin reports. He has returned to San Diego and has been looked at by Dr. Heinz Hoenecke and it is hard to say when he could get back on the mound. With Morrow this should come as no surprise, as he seems to miss significant time annually. In leagues with deep benches or DL spots, Morrow is worth stashing, but in shallower formats the uncertainty surrounding his return makes him expendable.

Morrow (shoulder) suggested he should be ready to return from the DL when first eligible May 18, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports. Right shoulder inflammation pushed Morrow to the DL on Tuesday, but he didn't seem overly concerned, saying missing two weeks now could help him later on. Odrisamer Despaigne is the favorite to step into Morrow's rotation spot.

Morrow was placed on the 15-day DL on Thursday, retroactive to May 3, with right shoulder inflammation. Morrow went six innings against Colorado on Saturday and gave up just two earned runs, giving the right-hander four quality starts in five turns to begin the year. As it turns out, Morrow's shoulder is an issue, but the silver lining here is that 30-year-old hasn't had many shoulder problems throughout his career. Odrisamer Despaigne would seem like a top candidate to step into the starting rotation.

Morrow threw seven innings in Sunday's victory over the Dodgers and picked up his first win of the season. He allowed one earned run on five hits and posted a 4:1 K:BB ratio in the game. The Padres have won every game Morrow has started this year, but they were finally able to get him a win Sunday. Morrow gave up five earned runs in a start in Colorado, but he gave up just three total earned runs in his other three starts, and has given up just 22 hits through 27 innings this season. He will take on the Rockies again in his next start this upcoming weekend.

Morrow allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking one against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Morrow gave up a two-run home run to Paul Goldschmidt in the first but otherwise had another quality start. But again, he did not factor in the decision as the Padres failed to take the lead until the 8th inning. Morrow's next start is scheduled for Tuesday at Coors Field against the Rockies.

Morrow pitched seven innings Friday, but did not get a decision in a 1-0 win over the Giants. He gave up four hits and three walks, while striking out seven in the outing. Morrow has always had trouble staying healthy, but when he is right he can be very effective. He will likely pitch well enough to stay in the Padres lineup as long as he's healthy, which could yield some very nice results given his home park.

Morrow has won the fifth starter job for San Diego and will start Friday against San Francisco, manager Bud Black told Fox Sports San Diego. Odrisamer Despaigne will move to the bullpen as a result. Morrow had a 4.76 ERA with a 12:4 K:BB ratio in 17 innings this spring.

Morrow allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk over 4.2 innings of work Tuesday against Kansas City. Morrow threw 77 pitches in his final Cactus League outing this spring, but most of the damage was done in the first inning where he labored through 25 pitches and allowed two runs. Regarding his outing, manager Bud Black told the Union-Tribune that Morrow's fastball "had life to it, there were some really good breaking pitches, not a lot of hard contact. Overall, I think it was an encouraging outing." Even though Morrow's outing was "encouraging" in Black's opinion, the Padres could wait until the weekend to decide whether he or Odrisamer Despaigne will claim the fifth spot in the rotation.
