Ziegler picked up his sixth save of the season Saturday, allowing just one hit in a 2-1 win over the Mets. He got into a bit of a jam, giving up a one-out single and then gaining another baserunner due to catcher's interference, but Ziegler pitched out of it, throwing first-pitch strikes to every batter he faced and inducing a game-ending double play. He's been effective since taking over for Addison Reed in the ninth inning, recording six saves in seven chances. Despite the general prejudice against sidearm closers, it appears that Ziegler's secured the role for now despite manager Chip Hale's recent indication that Reed is close to regaining his job.

Ziegler pitched a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday against Atlanta to pick up his fourth save of the season. He allowed one hit in the outing. Ziegler has been Arizona's best reliever all season, posting a 1.50 ERA and 0.96 WHIP to go along with his handful of saves. He doesn't strike out many batters, but his ability to keep batted balls on the ground ensures he is effective. It's possible the D-Backs will go back to Addison Reed at some point, but Ziegler remains the closer for now.

Ziegler allowed a run in the ninth inning Friday, but picked up his third save of the season. Ziegler has been Arizona's best reliever this year, posting a 1.59 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. Despite not posting big strikeout numbers, he is getting 3.64 ground balls for every fly ball he gives up and locking down saves for D-Backs. He should hold onto the closer role for the foreseeable future.

Ziegler gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks Wednesday, taking the loss and the blown save against the Cardinals. He gave up a game-tying home run to Jason Heyward and then after a few runners reached, Matt Carpenter scored from third base on a throwing error by catcher Jordan Pacheco to win the game in walk-off fashion. Ziegler needs to save games in order to be a fantasy asset, as he does not miss many bats (14 strikeouts in 21.2 innings), so nights like Wednesday are pretty unfortunate. It was just his second blown save of the season and his ERA sits at a very respectable 1.25, so it would seem that he would still be used in save chances going forward, at least in the short term.

Ziegler allowed just one hit during a scoreless ninth on Sunday against the Cubs to earn his second save of the season. It was just his second save opportunity since being placed in the closer's role, but Ziegler now holds a stellar 0.86 ERA through 21 innings and is the clear-cut relief pitcher to own in Arizona.

Ziegler recorded his first save of the year Thursday, striking out two Marlins in a perfect ninth. It only took him nine pitches to nail it down, and that should send fantasy owners running to the waiver wire, as Ziegler should be heavily involved in the Arizona closing mix moving forward. Rookie Enrique Burgos may have picked up a couple saves of his own this week, but both of those came with Ziegler unavailable.

Ziegler could see some save opportunities with Addison Reed moved out of the closer role. Ziegler has been one of the few effective relievers for the D-Backs this year, posting a 1.17 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 15.1 innings, and he has some closing experience - he saved 13 of 15 chances in 2013. Manager Chip Hale hasn't announced a plan for how he will handle closing duties during Reed's demotion, but Ziegler might be the best choice.

Ziegler pitched his ninth straight scoreless appearance Tuesday in a 5-4 loss to the Rockies. Ziegler has only allowed two base runners in 8.2 innings pitched this year. He doesn't overwhelm hitters (just two strikeouts), but he gets tons of groundballs that the D-Backs have been converting into outs in the early going.

Ziegler made his seventh straight scoreless appearance of the season in Friday's loss to Pittsburgh. The opposition has just one hit against Ziegler in 6.2 innings this season. He'll continue to work as part of the bridge to Addison Reed, collecting most of his value in leagues that reward holds.

Ziegler (knee) made his Cactus League debut Sunday against the Rockies, giving up a run on two hits and a walk over one inning. Though Ziegler surrendered a solo blast to Corey Dickerson to lead off the inning, he was able to strand the remaining two baserunners. The side-winding reliever's start to the spring was delayed by microfracture surgery on his left knee last September, but he should be ready to work in a setup role for the Diamondbacks when Opening Day arrives. The team's closer situation is a bit unsettled at the moment with Addison Reed still recovering from a shoulder injury, but Evan Marshall would probably get the nod ahead of Ziegler if a ninth-inning replacement is needed.
