Tigers transferred LHP Brad Thomas from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. Thomas was sent outright to Triple-A Toledo earlier this month, but that transaction was voided. The 33-year-old southpaw is currently resting an elbow injury and may eventually need surgery.

Dr. James Andrews advised Brad Thomas (elbow) to rest for four weeks before a decision is made about surgery. If surgery is required, Andrews will operate to remove a tiny spur and check on the cartilage. Thomas, 33, was originally placed on the disabled list in May with left elbow inflammation after posting a 9.00 ERA over 12 relief appearances. He was removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster earlier this month.

Thomas appeared to be finished with his rehab last week before he felt renewed soreness in his elbow. He'll probably need at least a couple more appearances.

He's scheduled to pitch another inning Tuesday before being reevaluated. The 33-year-old left-hander has been been sidelined since May 11 with elbow inflammation.
