Twins signed 1B/OF Brad Nelson to a minor league contract. The Quad-A masher hit .271/.346/.467 with 20 homers at Triple-A for the Twins last season. Nelson, 31, will provide minor league depth.

Cubs signed INF/OF Brad Nelson to a minor league contract. Nelson mashed the ball at Triple-A Round Rock in 2012 to the tune of .279/.364/.488 with 24 homers and 81 RBI. He has the ability to play first base and either corner outfield position, and will serve as organizational depth depth for the Cubs.
