Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Friday that Dalbec does not have an obvious path to regular at-bats in Boston, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. "Obviously where we're at roster-wise, he needs to be patient," Cora said.
EDGE Analysis
Dalbec was called up from Triple-A Worcester on Friday after the team placed Pablo Reyes (abdomen) on the injured list. The Red Sox plan to use Dalbec mainly at corner infield, but first and third base are manned by Triston Casas and Rafael Devers, respectively. Dalbec has played some shortstop -- the most obvious path to at-bats given the team's current roster -- but the Red Sox will try to stay away from him there.

The Red Sox recalled Dalbec from Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Pablo Reyes (abdomen) headed to the injured list, Dalbec will come up from the minors to fill Reyes' roster spot. Dalbec has been outstanding in Triple-A this season, slashing .296/.414/.638 with 18 homers and 43 RBI through 237 plate appearances, but he's struggled during his two brief MLB stints this season.

Dalbec went 4-for-6 with a triple, two home runs, four RBI and two additional runs scored for Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Dalbec broke out of a mini slump -- 3-for-21 over the previous six games -- in a big way Wednesday. He continues to rake at Triple-A with 16 home runs and 40 RBI over 47 games for the WooSox. It seems like there would be a home for his bat in Boston, but the team remains committed to fixing Triston Casas at first base and won't have Dalbec at third base ahead of Rafael Devers. It appears the organization is content having him light up the minors and improve his trade value.

Dalbec is batting .421 (24-for-57) with nine home runs and 19 RBI over the last 15 games at Triple-A Worcester, but the Red Sox don't have room for him on the major-league roster, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. "We're glad that he's doing well. You know, not only hitting for power, but hitting for average. But obviously roster wise right now, this is who we have," manager Alex Cora said.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox appear committed to Triston Casas at first base despite early struggles, and they have a right-handed bat behind him in Justin Turner. If there's no room for Dalbec in Boston, his obvious value to the organization comes as a possible trade chip, particularly if he keeps hitting like this. For the season, Dalbec is batting .310/.426/.662 with 14 homers, 35 RBI and 36 runs over 40 games for the WooSox.

The Red Sox are actively shopping Dalbec, Peter Gammons reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gammons reported two National League executives as the source of his intel. Dalbec does not have a path to a regular role with Boston, but both execs believe Dalbec can harness his power and play everyday at third base.

Dalbec was optioned to Triple-A Worcester by Boston on Friday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's likely that the corresponding transaction will be Pablo Reyes joining Boston on Saturday after the Red Sox acquired Reyes in a trade before Friday's game. Dalbec will head back to Triple-A and will likely make several more trips between Boston and the Triple-A club before the 2023 season comes to a close.

The Red Sox recalled Dalbec from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll provide Boston with another right-handed-hitting option out of the infield after Christian Arroyo (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Dalbec has seen action at first base, third base and shortstop between Boston and Triple-A this season and should be an option at all three positions while he's up with the big club, though he's unlikely to be used as anything more than a short-side platoon bat.

The Red Sox optioned Dalbec to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Dalbec's stay with Boston lasted just under a week, with the 27-year-old infielder appearing in four games and going 2-for-9 with two walks against five strikeouts during his time with the big club. Boston called up outfielder Jarren Duran from Triple-A to replace Dalbec on the 26-man active roster.

Dalbec started at third base and went 0-for-3 in Thursday's 9-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
He filled in for a resting Rafael Devers after playing shortstop the day before. The Red Sox are moving Dalbec around -- he's played first base, shortstop and now third base over the last three games -- trying to take advantage of a potentially explosive right-handed bat against a string of southpaws. He's 2-for-9 with two walks and a stolen base since being called up.

Dalbec started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 9-7 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Dalbec made his second career start at shortstop, and it was an inauspicious one. He booted a grounder in the first inning that helped lead to Tampa Bay scoring three times. Dalbec is familiar with that side of the infield, having come up through the system as a third baseman, but he doesn't have a defensive home on this year's club. He's expected to remain up with the team while the Red Sox are projected to face four straight lefties through the weekend, but Dalbec could be back in the minors after that stretch.
