Bichette went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and five RBI in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
He took prospect Robby Snelling to school in the seventh inning, driving an 0-2 slider over the right-field fence when it caught too much of the plate. The homer was Bichette's first of the spring, and he appears to be rounding into form with Opening Day a little over a week away, batting .267 (8-for-30) on the spring with a 4:5 BB:K. His adjustment to third base also seems to be going well -- Bichette hasn't committed an error since his first Grapefruit League game Feb. 21, and he ably started a 5-4-3 double play March 12 against the Cardinals.

Bichette isn't expected to take any reps at shortstop while Francisco Lindor (hand) is sidelined, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets don't believe Lindor will miss much regular-season action, so they'll keep Bichette at the hot corner and let him adapt to a new defensive position without interruption. That plan could change, however, if Lindor has any kind of setback. Bichette has never played a professional game at third base, but he did handle second base during the Blue Jays' run to the World Series last season without much difficulty.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that he's leaning toward batting Bichette third this season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He'll be preceded by Francisco Lindor (hand) and Juan Soto and likely followed by Jorge Polanco. It's a phenomenal RBI spot for Bichette, who slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs and 94 RBI over 139 regular-season games for Toronto in 2025. Bichette will primarily play third base for the Mets this season, although he could be needed at shortstop early in the year if Lindor's recovery from hamate bone surgery lingers past Opening Day.

The Mets signed Bichette to a three-year, $126 million contract Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal includes opt outs after each of the first two years. It's not the long-term contract many expected Bichette to sign, but he'll receive an average of $42 million annually, with the opportunity to re-enter the market if he has a monster 2026 or 2027 campaign. Bichette is likely to take over at third base for the Mets, a position he has never played before, and his arrival pushes Brett Baty into a utility role.

Bichette rejected the Blue Jays' one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer Tuesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was a foregone conclusion that Bichette would pass on the qualifying offer, but extending it means the Blue Jays will net a draft pick if the infielder departs in free agency. Bichette's market will be robust after he slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs and 94 RBI over 139 regular-season games for Toronto in 2025.

The Blue Jays extended a one-year, $22.05 million qualifying offer to Bichette on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Bichette will turn the offer down, as he is set to land a lucrative multi-year contract as a free agent this offseason. If Bichette signs elsewhere, the Blue Jays will net a draft pick as compensation. Bichette slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs and 94 RBI over 139 regular-season games for Toronto in 2025.

Bichette went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk against the Dodgers on Saturday in an extra-innings loss in Game 7 of the World Series.
EDGE Analysis
Bichette put the Blue Jays on the board with a three-run home run off Shohei Ohtani in the third inning. For much of the game it looked like that would be the knockout blow en route to a Toronto championship, but Los Angeles staged a late comeback and ultimately pulled off the victory in 11 innings. Bichette missed seven weeks coming into the World Series due to a knee injury, but he was included on the World Series roster and started six of the seven games. He didn't show any rust, batting .348 with the home run, six RBI, two runs, and four walks over 27 plate appearances.

Bichette said Friday that he does not expect to require surgery this offseason to repair a PCL sprain in his left knee, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bichette was diagnosed with a sprained knee in early September and missed seven weeks of action before rejoining the Blue Jays' roster for the World Series. He has been noticeably gimpy, but Bichette expects his knee injury to heal with rest. The impending free agent slashed .311/.357/.483 over 139 regular-season games and is 5-for-16 at the plate so far in the World Series.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Sunday that Bichette will start at second base in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting Game 1 and reaching base twice on a single and a walk, Bichette was held out of the lineup in Game 2 (though he did receive one plate appearance off the bench). He'll return to second base for Game 3 as the series moves to Los Angeles and will likely serve as the Blue Jays' cleanup hitter.

Bichette isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Bichette played in Game 1 on Friday -- his first game action in seven weeks -- but the Jays will keep the 27-year-old infielder on the bench Saturday while he continues to nurse a left knee injury. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at second base as a result and bat eighth.
