Voth (1-2) allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk with one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning, taking the extra-inning loss Tuesday versus the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Voth was called on for another short assignment Tuesday, his second since serving as a primary pitcher May 31 versus the Guardians. This one didn't go particularly well, and he has now given up six runs (four earned) over nine innings across his last five appearances. The Orioles haven't revealed their rotation for this weekend's series versus the Royals -- it's still possible Voth could make a start or serve as a bulk reliever in one of those three games. There's also a chance Baltimore recalls Cole Irvin, who has pitched to a 3.21 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 22:4 K:BB over 42 innings at Triple-A Norfolk. Irvin hasn't pitched for the Tides since May 31, and the affiliate's pitching plans beyond Wednesday are yet to be determined. Voth would likely return to the bullpen full-time if Irvin is promoted.

Voth struck out one in a perfect inning of relief during Sunday's 8-3 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Voth made his last appearance versus Cleveland in a bulk relief role, but Baltimore is skipping his turn in the rotation thanks to days off last Thursday and this Monday. This was his first scoreless outing in his last four appearances. Voth has been more effective as a reliever, and he may still follow an opener in his next game, which is tentatively scheduled to come over the weekend at home versus the Royals. As such, Sunday's appearance seems to be just to keep him on schedule. He has a 4.55 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 29.2 innings.

Voth allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over 2.1 innings Wednesday versus the Guardians. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Voth has served as a long reliever for much of the season, but he was tabbed for a primary-pitcher assignment behind opener Keegan Akin in this contest. It didn't go very well, as Voth struggled in the third and fourth innings, and the rest of the Orioles' bullpen didn't fare much better. Over 14 innings in May, Voth pitched to a respectable 3.86 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. He's at a 4.71 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB through 28.2 innings overall. He's tentatively scheduled to pitch next week in Milwaukee if he continues to fill the fifth-starter role opened up by Grayson Rodriguez's demotion to Triple-A Norfolk. Voth could also end up back in the bullpen if the Orioles opt to give Cole Irvin another chance in the rotation soon.

Voth will serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Keegan Akin in Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though the Orioles are bypassing him for a start, Voth will still effectively be taking the rotation spot of Grayson Rodriguez, who was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk last week. In his most recent relief outing five days ago against the Rangers, Voth covered 3.2 innings, so he should be able to provide the Orioles with a decent amount of length out of the bullpen.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that Voth will either start or serve as a bulk reliever in Wednesday's game versus the Guardians, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The rotation spot had previously been occupied by Grayson Rodriguez, who was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk over the weekend. All 18 of Voth's appearances this season have been in relief, although he has plenty of past starting experience and went 3.2 innings in his last outing May 26.

Voth (1-1) walked two and struck out two over two scoreless and hitless innings, earning the win Sunday over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
This was just the third time in 10 appearances this season that Voth wasn't changed with a run. All three of his scoreless efforts have come over his last four outings. The right-hander has a 5.52 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB across 14.2 innings as a low-leverage reliever this year. He's also picked up two holds. Voth's biggest problem has been home runs -- he gave up five long balls over his first five appearances but has since kept the ball in the yard.

Voth (0-1) allowed three runs on four hits and struck out three over 1.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Voth was responsible for Josh Jung's tiebreaking two-run home run in the sixth inning as well as a Nathaniel Lowe RBI double in the seventh. The 30-year-old Voth was thought to be in the mix to take Kyle Bradish's (foot) place in the rotation, but the Orioles instead opted to call up top prospect Grayson Rodriguez, who allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over five innings in his major-league debut. It looks like Voth will likely spend much of 2023 in a low-leverage role out of the bullpen. He's given up four runs, including two homers, across his first 2.1 innings this season.

Voth is an option to start for the Orioles on Tuesday versus the Rangers after scheduled starter Tyler Wells was needed in relief Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Voth is currently stationed in the Orioles' bullpen and made a one-inning relief appearance Saturday. He was stretched out in spring training, though, and the hope is that he could give the O's a little length. Baltimore could also go with Kyle Gibson on Tuesday on normal rest and pitch Voth on Wednesday in Gibson's original slot.

Voth's experience as a reliever could lead to him starting 2023 in the bullpen, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Voth started 17 of his 41 appearances between the Nationals and the Orioles last season, with most of his success coming in Baltimore. With a crowded competition for the rotation, it would make sense for the Orioles to move the 30-year-old to the bullpen at the start of the campaign. He would likely fill a long-relief role with the ability to make spot starts since he's stretching out in camp.

Voth has avoided arbitration with the Orioles and signed a one-year contract Thursday, which includes a club option for 2024.
EDGE Analysis
Voth will be guaranteed $1.85 million with this new deal, and the 2024 option is worth $2.45 million with escalators that could add another $500,000. The 30-year-old right-hander struggled out of the gate last season with Washinton before moving on to Baltimore and registering a sharp 3.04 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 17 starts and five relief appearances covering 83 innings. He projects to operate in a swingman role again for the O's in 2023, shuffling between long relief and emergency starting/opening duties.
