The Reds promoted Hendrick from Single-A Daytona to High-A Dayton on Monday, Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hendrick will make the jump to Dayton despite seeing a 69-point decrease in his OPS at Daytona from 2021 through his first 145 plate appearances with the affiliate in 2022. The power-hitting outfielder also struck out 40 percent of the time at Single-A this year, and the significant amount of swing and miss in his game could hinder his productivity as he climbs the minor-league ladder.

Hendrick has made a good impression at the Reds' alternate training camp site, particularly with his bat speed, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nightengale suggests that Hendrick's first real game action will take place at Low-A Daytona. He hasn't really had much game action aside from Instructional League play in the fall. Despite that, the Reds' 2020 first-round pick is already highly ranked on most Reds prospect lists.

Hendrick is among the Reds' prospects that will be playing in the special fall Instructional league created by Major League Baseball, with games beginning on Monday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hendrick, the Reds' first-round pick in the 2020 draft, joined the Reds' alternate training camp site in September, but this will be his first dose of professional competition since before the draft.

Hendrick was added to the Reds' 60-man player pool Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hendrick wasn't initially added to the team's pool when he was drafted back in June with the 12th overall pick. He'll get to work with the Reds' coaching staff for a brief period at the end of the season, though this is purely a developmental move, as there's no chance a high school draftee is considered for a callup before making his professional debut.

Hendrick was not included on the Reds' 60-man player pool for the 2020 season and wasn't really under consideration, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. "Austin is more of a ways away, obviously a high school kid who hasn't even started a season yet," general manager Nick Krall said. "He's got to get back into baseball shape before you even think of something like that. That wasn't a consideration."
EDGE Analysis
That's been the conclusion for most franchises when setting their 60-man player pool - so far only nine 2020 draftees have been included. It probably wouldn't be too helpful for Hendrick to face more advanced players right now, nor would it be helpful for the Reds' pitching staff to work against him.
