Sanchez agreed Monday with the Padres on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to MLB spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old right-hander will be making his return to affiliated ball in 2023 after spending the 2020 and 2021 seasons in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball with the Yomiuri Giants before sitting out the entire 2022 campaign. Sanchez, who previously received a cup of coffee in the big leagues with Pittsburgh in 2017, submitted a 4.68 ERA and 54:23 K:BB in 73 innings over his final season in Japan.

Sanchez has agreed to a multi-year contract with the Yomiuri Giants, Robert Murray reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez, who was with the Pirates in MLB in 2017, played the past two seasons in South Korea and will move to Japan. He went 17-5 with a 2.62 ERA with the SK Wyverns last season. He'll move to the Nippon Professional Baseball league, rejecting interest from MLB teams.

Sanchez signed a one-year, $1.1 million contract to play for South Korean baseball club SK Wyverns, the Yonhap News Agency reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez finally reached the majors last year at age 27 and struggled with Pittsburgh as he had a 8.76 ERA in 12.1 innings. He can reach the high-90s with his fastball and was productive at Triple-A, so he could be late bloomer who could blossom overseas and return to MLB.

Sanchez was released by the Pirates on Monday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez had a tough time when he got his first taste of the majors in 2017. He pitched 12.1 innings over eight games, during which he allowed 12 runs on 16 hits and a walk. He struggled keeping the ball in the park, as five of said hits were home runs. If another team opts to sign Sanchez, he'll likely serve as organizational depth in the bullpen.

Sanchez was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez has been a decent bullpen option for for Indianapolis this season. He's pitched 55.1 innings over 39 games, during which he's built a 3.74 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Additionally, he's managed to strike out 65 batters in that time. He'll likely be used in low-leverage situations for the Pirates. In a corresponding move Edgar Santana was optioned to Indianapolis.
