Nesbitt was suspended 50 games after testing positive for the stimulant Heptaminol, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following this announcement, it seems likely that Nesbitt will remain a free agent for a while longer, as the soon-to-be 27-year-old will spend almost a third of the 2018 season on the shelf. During this past year, he only appeared in 11 professional games -- all coming in the minors -- and sported a 6.08 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 13.1 innings.

Nesbitt was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Nesbitt was designated for assignment in late-December but passed through waivers unclaimed. He pitched effectively at High-A and Double-A last season before struggling in 11 appearances at Triple-A Toledo, where he notched a 5.68 ERA to go with a 1.99 WHIP across 31.2 innings. The 26-year-old will remain in the Tigers organization and should be a fixture in their Triple-A bullpen, but he no longer has a spot on the 40-man roster.

Nesbitt was designated for assignment on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster after they signed Alex Avila to a one-year deal, and Nesbitt was the casualty. If he clears waivers he will likely spend most of 2017 at Triple-A serving as organizational bullpen depth.

Nesbitt returned from the disabled list this week after a 16-day stint because of a left ankle injury.
EDGE Analysis
Nesbitt has struggled this season. He racked up a 6.66 ERA with Triple-A Toledo before being demoted to Double-A Erie earlier in July, and then promptly hit the DL. An injury to his right ankle in spring training had derailed his bid for a roster spot with the Tigers and now he'll be hard-pressed to even get a call-up come September.

EDGE Analysis
Nesbitt started his season on the disabled list and has been rehabbing with High-A Lakeland. He'll likely spend most of 2016 at the Triple-A level.

Nesbitt (ankle) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nesbitt will likely remain sidelined through May while he recovers from a sprained ankle suffered in spring training. Look for the reliever to spent most of 2016 with Triple-A Toledo.

Nesbitt will be out for four-to-six weeks with a sprained ankle, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
EDGE Analysis
This ends Nesbitt's bid to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster, but he could still be an option for the big-league bullpen once he's healthy, which may not happen until May. He'd likely just be working as a middle reliever, with most of his appearances coming in medium or low-leverage situations.

Nesbitt attributes his poor showing last season in Triple-A Toledo to being worried about when he might be recalled to Detroit, reports the Detroit Free Press. He appeared in 24 games with the Tigers from April to early June and had a 5.40 ERA before being sent down. He was never recalled.
EDGE Analysis
Nesbitt's struggles continued in Triple-A and he recorded a 6.25 ERA and 1.86 WHIP in 27 appearances for the Mud Hens. "Last year, I was thinking too much about that [being recalled]," Nesbitt said. "I wanted to come back too soon. I didn't want to be (in Toledo) ... Now I feel great. Now I just wait for another chance." He's showing well this spring and that could earn him a gig in the pen.

Nesbitt was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after Friday's game. The 24-year-old gave up three runs to the Cubs on Wednesday while recording just one out (21 pitches), which brought his ERA up more than a run to 5.40. It marked the third straight appearance in which Nesbitt allowed a run. A corresponding move was not immediately announced.
