Angel Guzman was suspended 50 games for his second violation of baseball's drug policy. Guzman, who is currently on the roster with Triple-A Albuquerque, tested positive for a drug of abuse. The 30-year-old right-hander hasn't appeared in the majors since 2009 as a member of the Cubs.

Dodgers signed RHP Angel Guzman to a minor league contract. The deal includes an invite to spring training. Guzman, who turns 30 on Wednesday, hasn't pitched in the big leagues since undergoing major shoulder surgery in March of 2010. He posted a 4.04 ERA and 28/5 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings this past season between Class A Peoria and High-A Daytona in the Cubs' organization.

The Cubs do not plan on calling up Angel Guzman once rosters expand. Guzman, who is working his way back from shoulder surgery, has pitched well in A-ball this year, holding a 3.34 ERA and 27/5 K/BB ratio over 35 innings. But, the Cubs' primary focus is just to get him through the season healthy so he can have a normal offseason and then be ready for spring training.
