The Nationals optioned Lara to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
He'll head back to Triple-A to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Cade Cavalli, who was called up from Rochester in advance of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Athletics. During his latest stint in Washington, Lara made eight relief appearances and yielded 15 runs (14 earned) on 26 hits and eight walks over 11.1 innings. The 22-year-old righty could get stretched back out as a starter upon reporting to Rochester.

The Nationals recalled Lara from Double-A Harrisburg on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Lara will provide some extra bullpen coverage in Sunday's series finale with the Brewers after the Nationals burned through four relievers Saturday. Washington optioned Shinnosuke Ogasawara to Triple-A Rochester following Saturday's game, and it's possible Lara ends up getting a look in the rotation to begin the second half. The 22-year-old right-hander has turned in a 7.50 ERA and 2.00 WHIP over 36 innings in the minors this season but was effective in his MLB debut July 2, holding the Tigers scoreless while striking out four over three innings.

The Nationals returned Lara to Double-A Harrisburg following Wednesday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Lara made his MLB debut Wednesday during the first game of Wednesday's twin bill, during which he pitched three shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four batters. The 22-year-old righty's impressive outing isn't representative of his minor-league performance this year, however, as he owns a 7.71 ERA and 2.08 WHIP through 30.1 total innings split between three levels.

The Nationals appointed Lara from Triple-A Rochester to serve as their 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader with the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Lara will be available out of the bullpen for both games of the twin bill and will be making his MLB debut if he ends up being used in either contest. The 22-year-old righty has been serving as a starter between stops at Rochester, Double-A Harrisburg and High-A Wilmington this season, accruing a 7.71 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB in 30.1 innings.

Lara was optioned to Triple-A Rochester following Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Lara served as the team's 27th man for Sunday's action with Colorado, but he failed to make an appearance out of the bullpen. The right-hander will now return to Triple-A, having posted a 9.26 ERA over 11.2 innings in three starts with Rochester so far this season.

The Nationals recalled Lara from Triple-A Rochester to serve as the 27th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old will provide some bullpen depth for the Nationals in the twin bill before likely returning to Rochester. Lara has struggled in his first taste of the Triple-A level this year with 12 earned runs allowed and a 7:8 K:BB over 11.2 innings.

The Nationals optioned Lara to Triple-A Rochester on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Lara is one of Washington's top prospects and was added to the 40-man roster in November in order to shield him from the Rule 5 Draft. The 22-year-old spent most of last season at the Double-A level and had a 3.55 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 86:32 K:BB across 99 innings.

Lara impressed for Single-A Fredericksburg on Sunday against Carolina, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over four innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
One of the Nationals' top pitching prospects, Lara is still only 19 after being a J-2 signing in 2019, but this is already his second look at full-season ball after he ended last season with a couple shaky starts for Fredericksburg. His results this time around have been a lot better, however, and if Lara can improve his control, his raw stuff could allow him to consistently dominate hitters in the low minors. For the moment, he's only on the radar in deeper dynasty formats, but Lara has the tools to put together a breakout campaign.

Lara has made a good impression on Nationals minor-league pitching coordinator Brad Holman, Byron Kerr of MASN Sports reports. "His fastball is mid-90s mph and just once and a while he will like overthrow it a tick and catch a little misfire and yank it left," Holman said this week. "He's just learning how to make adjustments and how to get back on track when he's off. But he makes a lot of really good pitches, too. It's (all about) just becoming more consistent for him and, of course, he is just a baby. He just turned 17."
EDGE Analysis
The Nats' top signing in the 2019 J-2 class, Lara has the makings of a No. 2 starter given his projectable frame, potentially plus-plus fastball and early feel for his changeup. He's a long way from the majors and hasn't even made his stateside pro debut yet, but his willingness to accept coaching can only help his development. Lara's already the No. 4 fantasy prospect in a Washington system that lacks depth, but if he makes an immediate splash as a teenager once he gets to rookie ball, his overall dynasty stock will skyrocket.
