Monasterio has emerged as the frontrunner for a utility role with Romy Gonzalez (shoulder) unlikely for Opening Day, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. Monasterio served as the designated hitter Thursday and went 1-for-4 in a spring game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez's injury -- he's heading to see a specialist and could undergo surgery -- has meant ample opportunity for Monasterio, who was a minor piece in the six-player trade with Milwaukee that brought Caleb Durbin to Boston. Over 10 Grapefruit League games, Monasterio has made appearances at third base, shortstop, first base and DH, going 8-for-23 (.348) with four walks, a double, a home run, five RBI and two stolen bases. Additionally, the latest roster projection from Ian Browne of MLB.com has Monasterio and Isiah Kiner-Falefa making the 26-man roster in utility roles.

The Red Sox acquired Monasterio on Monday in a trade with the Brewers, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio offers a steady glove at multiple infield spots and he improved offensively with the Brewers in 2025, slashing .270/.319/.437 with four home runs over 68 regular-season contests. The 28-year-old enters a crowded infield picture for the Red Sox and will most likely open 2026 in a reserve role.

Monasterio is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
With Joey Ortiz (hamstring) returning from the 10-day injured list and stepping back in at shortstop Monday, Monasterio appears set to move back into a utility role. Monasterio filled in admirably for Ortiz, covering shortstop for each of the past 10 games while slashing .371/.405/.657 with two home runs, four doubles, one walk, five runs and four RBI. Monasterio still has an active 11-game hitting streak, during which the 28-year-old has raised his season average from .242 to .294.

Monasterio went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the Brewers' 7-2 win over the Blue Jays on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio supplied the game's first run in the sixth inning with a solo shot to left field off Shane Bieber. It was Monasterio's fourth home run of the season, surpassing his previous career high that he set in 2023. He's now in the midst of a nine-game hitting streak, going 11-for-29 (.379) with six runs, two homers and four RBI over that span.

Monasterio will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old will stay in the lineup for a third straight game after Joey Ortiz (hamstring) was placed on the injured list Friday. Monasterio is batting a respectable .257 over 80 plate appearances this season, but he doesn't bring much power or speed to the table and is unlikely to offer much fantasy value while typically slotting in near the bottom of the Milwaukee lineup.

Monasterio smacked a three-run homer in the 11th inning of Saturday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio was brought in for the 11th as a pinch hitter with runners on the corners, and he wasted no time in giving the Brewers the late lead after taking the first pitch he saw from Joe La Sorsa deep to left field. It was Monasterio's second home run of the season and arguably his biggest hit of the year, as his efforts helped Milwaukee extend its winning streak to 14 games. The 28-year-old infielder has seen sparse playing time in the majors this season, but he's gone 8-for-19 (.421) with four runs and seven RBI in 11 games since the All-Star break.

Monasterio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio will head back to the bench after he went 2-for-11 with an RBI and a stolen base while starting in each of the Brewers' last three contests, twice in place of shortstop Joey Ortiz and once in place of third baseman Caleb Durbin. Though Durbin's absence from the lineup in Tuesday's 3-1 win appeared to be more of a rest day, Monasterio could make a push for more starts at shortstop if Ortiz is unable to break out of his extended slump at the dish. After going hitless in his return to the lineup Tuesday, Ortiz is now slashing .125/.200/.344 over his last 10 games.

Monasterio will start at third base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Reds, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio made three starts in the Brewers' ensuing six games following his promotion from Triple-A Nashville on May 9, but playing time has been scarce ever since for the 28-year-old. He'll crack the lineup for the first time since May 26, stepping in at the hot corner for a resting Caleb Durbin.

The Brewers recalled Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio slashed just .208/.303/.272 over 59 games with Milwaukee last season. He will be used as a utility infielder.

The Brewers optioned Monasterio to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monasterio did all he could this spring to break camp with the big club, posting a 1.157 OPS, but it wasn't enough. With Monasterio slated to begin the season in Nashville, Caleb Durbin's spot on the Opening Day roster might now be locked in.
