McCutchen (knee), who is not in the lineup Saturday, says he will not require a DL stint, the Pittsburgh Tribune's Travis Sawchik reports.
He said the issue is not one of structural damage, but that he is simply dealing with knee soreness. McCutchen felt something in his last at-bat Friday night, but said he could pinch hit Saturday if called upon. This knee soreness and general lower-body discomfort has bothered him since spring training, which is frustrating for him and his owners, but it sounds like he will avoid a DL stint, which is encouraging.

McCutchen (knee) is out of the lineup Saturday against the Brewers.
The lower-body issues continue for McCutchen, who left Friday's game with what was labeled left knee discomfort after battling soreness throughout spring training. It's troubling, but the Pirates haven't given any indication that McCutchen is worse than day-to-day. Starling Marte will move over to center field Saturday as Andrew Lambo steps in to left.

McCutchen left the ninth inning of Friday's game with left knee discomfort, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
The center fielder missed considerable spring action due to lower-body soreness. He stole a career-low 18 bases in 2014 and might have difficulty reaching that total this summer.

McCutchen went 0-for-3 with a walk while stranding four baserunners Thursday against the Reds.
The center fielder usually sprints down the first base line after hitting ground balls, but he hasn't given his typical max effort thus far. Whether that's because of poor weather conditions in Cincinnati or because he's still not 100 percent remains to be seen. McCutchen is 6-for-14 with four home runs against Friday starter, Mike Fiers.

McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a game-tying two-run homer in Monday's loss to the Reds.
McCutchen was also robbed of another hit in the first inning on a diving stop by Todd Frazier. For at least the first day of the season, concerns about his hamstring have been quelled.

McCutchen went 3-for-4 against the Phillies on Friday.
He left Wednesday's game after awkwardly slipping on home plate while running out of the batter's box, but showed he's ready for the season Friday night. McCutchen has 11 hits in his last 21 spring at-bats.

Manager Clint Hurdle said Thursday that McCutchen did not suffer any kind of disabling injury Wednesday. The center fielder slipped on home plate while running out of the batter's box. "He's fine," Hurdle told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
McCutchen has had an awkward spring training, missing 10 games with an undisclosed lower-body injury and then leaving Wednesday's tilt while apparently holding his right side. Fantasy owners have to hope the center fielder is done with his spring dalliance of injuries.

McCutchen, who exited Wednesday's spring game, it not expected to be dealing with anything serious, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports.
McCutchen was removed late in the game, but as expected, it was only for precautionary reasons. He apparently slipped on home plate ever so slightly, and did not want to over-exert himself just to be safe. The recent development here should have no effect on his fantasy value, as McCutchen remains a top-5 player in just about any format.

McCutchen left Wednesday's spring game with an apparent injury, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports.
McCutchen failed to run out a ground ball late in the contest, and did not take the field in the ensuing frame. It may be that the Pirates are taking a conservative approach with the regular season just around the corner, but it's a situation worth monitoring leading up to Opening Day.

The star outfielder has started three of four games since coming back from lower-body soreness. He's still looking for his timing, striking out three times since returning, but all systems are go for McCutchen.
