Dykstra cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Durham on Sunday, the Tampa Tribune reports. Dykstra was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday in order to add Everett Teaford to the 40-man roster shortly after being optioned. He struggled in his time with the big league club, but has shown relatively good numbers at Triple-A. He'll remain with the club at that level, awaiting another opportunity to produce in the majors.

Dykstra is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Blue Jays, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports. Dykstra will head to the bench after making four straight starts at first base in place of James Loney (upper body), as Rene Rivera steps in for his first career start at the position. The 27-year-old Dykstra has gone 1-for-12 with three walks and four strikeouts to begin the season, but appears in line to play regularly against right-handers until Loney returns.

Dykstra was called up from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, CBS Sports reports. The move comes in a corresponding transaction as James Lonely was placed on the disabled list as he deals with a mild right oblique strain. Dykstra will slot into the lineup immediately, hitting eighth and starting at first base in Wednesday's contest against the Orioles. With Logan Forsythe filling in at second base with Nick Franklin on the disabled list, Dykstra could see consistent playing time at first until the regulars return.

Dykstra signed a minor league contract with the Rays on Saturday, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports. Dykstra slashed .280/.426/.504 with 16 home runs in Triple-A as a member of the Mets' organization last season as a 27-year-old. While those numbers are solid, his age and the Mets' lack of interest in retaining him, signify that Dykstra is not really a prospect worth following in most formats.
