With a 5-for-15 mark at the plate and two stolen bases in five games, Presley looks to be fairly secure in his role, but he'll still hit the bench when opponents bring left-handers to the hill, as will be the case Sunday with southpaw David Holmberg starting for the White Sox.

Presley went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a stolen base and three runs during Saturday's win over the White Sox.

EDGE Analysis

The veteran journeyman has received just 17 plate appearances this season, and while he might carve out a fleeting role in the Detroit outfield, the 31-year-old Presley offers very limited fantasy upside. He posted a .252/.296/.381 slash line over 338 career games entering Saturday, after all.

With Presley in the lineup for a second straight day, it appears he could settle into the strong side of a platoon with either JaCoby Jones or Mikie Mahtook in center field for the time being. Presley is a .253 lifetime hitter in the big leagues and doesn't offer much of an impact as a base stealer at this stage of his career, so there won't be much fantasy upside to mine here if he maintains a semi-regular role in the outfield.

The veteran outfielder will get his shot after starting the season at Triple-A, where he is slashing a disappointing .213/.278/.303 through 40 games. Presley spent most of last season with the Brewers, where he hit just .198 over 116 at-bats while serving mainly as a reserve outfielder. No corresponding move has been made yet, but he'll likely take the roster spot of Mikie Mahtook or Tyler Collins, both of whom are struggling to produce at the plate thus far. Don't expect too much production out of Presley, as he'll likely be taking on a reserve role in his return to the big leagues.

Presley missed a couple days last week after he was hit on the elbow by a pitch, but he's been able to play in three games since then and will start again Wednesday. The veteran outfielder is on the outside looking in for an Opening Day roster spot, but his chances of breaking camp with the club have risen with both Tyler Collins (lat) and J.D. Martinez (foot) uncertain to be ready for the start of the season.

Presley is out of the lineup again for the Tigers with a sore elbow, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

He was hit by a pitch on the right elbow in Wednesday's game, and apparently is still sore from the knock. It doesn't sound overly serious, but he should be considered day-to-day until the Tigers specify otherwise.

Presley signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Monday, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

His minor-league deal includes an invite to spring training, where he'll look to win a role as a fourth or fifth outfielder for the big club.
