The lefty-hitting Thomas will sit for the second time this weekend while the Twins bring a southpaw (Dallas Keuchel) to the hill for the series finale. With the Diamondbacks acquiring outfielder/designated hitter Tommy Pham from the Mets on Tuesday, Thomas and fellow left-handed hitter Jake McCarthy would seem to be most at risk of losing playing time.

He smacked a game-tying solo shot to lead off the eighth inning, providing the Diamondbacks with their first run of the game. Thomas then reached on an infield single in the 10th to again knock in the tying run. The outfielder had been struggling coming into Saturday, batting .192 (5-for-26) with no RBI over his previous 10 contests.

Thomas will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Angels.

Of note, he's had just one at-bat against a left-hander during this recent run, and futility against southpaws (1-for-36) was the primary reason he was demoted to the minors in May.
