Marsh (7-8) took the loss Sunday against the Astros, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh held the Astros scoreless through three innings but came apart in the fourth after allowing home runs to Yordan Alvarez and Jon Singleton to give the Astros a 3-0 lead. The 26-year-old righty has now allowed a home run in seven of his last eight starts while reaching five innings in only half of them. Marsh holds a 4.70 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 100:34 K:BB in 111 innings and lines up for a key home start against the Twins over the weekend, assuming he sticks in the rotation.

The Royals recalled Marsh from Triple-A Omaha to start Sunday's game against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander allowed four runs (two earned) over 4.2 innings during a spot start in a doubleheader Aug. 26 against the Guardians, and he'll re-enter the Royals rotation for Sunday's series finale in Houston. Marsh has a 4.67 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 95:33 K:BB across 106 innings this season, and he could see additional starts beyond Sunday with Michael Lorenzen (hamstring) recently landing on the injured list.

Marsh was returned to Triple-A Omaha after serving as the 27th man for Monday's doubleheader against Cleveland. He didn't factor into the decision, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out two across 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Marsh will be sent back to the minors after making a spot start in Game 2 of Monday's twin bill. He struggled to begin the outing, surrendering three runs (two earned) in the first inning, but he managed to settle down and keep his club in the game, allowing the Royals to ultimately walk away with a 9-4 victory. The 26-year-old owns a 4.67 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 95 strikeouts over 106 innings so far this season (21 appearances).

The Royals recalled Marsh from Triple-A Omaha on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh will draw a spot start in the second game of Monday's doubleheader in Cleveland. The right-hander is serving as the 27th man on the roster and is likely to be sent back down to Triple-A following the outing. Marsh has posted a 4.71 ERA and 93:32 K:BB covering 101.1 innings for Kansas City in 2024.

Marsh is scheduled to be called up from Triple-A Omaha to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader in Cleveland, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals are expected to designate Marsh as their 27th man for the twin bill, so he'll most likely be returned to Omaha immediately after his start Monday. Marsh will be rejoining the big club for the first time since late July, when he lost his spot in the rotation following the Royals' trade-deadline addition of Michael Lorenzen. Over his 20 outings (19 starts) with Kansas City prior to his demotion, Marsh accrued a 4.71 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 93:32 K:BB in 101.1 innings.

The Royals optioned Marsh to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh will lose his spot in the rotation and on the 26-man active roster after the Royals acquired Michael Lorenzen from the Rangers earlier this week and settled on him as their new No. 5 starter. The Royals have a doubleheader on Aug. 26 in Cleveland, so Marsh will be a candidate to return that day, if he's not needed before then. While Marsh is down in the minors, Royals manager Matt Quatraro said that the right-hander will scale back his workload and throw around 40-to-60 pitches in his outings at Omaha, per Anne Rogers of MLB.com.

Marsh did not factor into the decision in Monday's 8-5 win over the White Sox, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh entered this outing with a 7.80 ERA across 15 innings in July and failed to get out of the fifth against a feeble White Sox lineup. The Royals right-hander lasted just 69 pitches before being relieved as Chicago had knocked five singles and one double off the 26-year-old. After pitching to a 3.76 ERA in 55 innings over his first 10 starts, he has produced a 5.82 ERA across 46.1 innings since June 8. Marsh may not have a spot in the rotation any longer as Kansas City acquired Michael Lorenzen on Monday and have not announced the rotation plans for the upcoming weekend series in Detroit.

Marsh (7-7) allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh's last outing was a one-inning relief appearance, presumably to get him some work just after the All-Star break. His return to a starting role didn't go very well, as he allowed at least five runs for the third time in his last seven appearances. The right-hander is now at a 4.75 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 90:31 K:BB through 96.2 innings over 19 appearances (18 starts) this season. He's tentatively projected to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox, though Marsh would likely be in the most danger of losing his rotation spot if the Royals decide to add starting pitching before the trade deadline.

Marsh appeared out of the bullpen in Friday's 7-1 win over the White Sox, allowing two hits and striking out one over one scoreless inning.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh's last start before the All-Star break was July 10, so this relief appearance was likely just to get him back into his pitching rhythm in a lopsided game. The Royals haven't specified their pitching plans beyond this weekend, but it's safe to assume Marsh will take the hill at some point during their three-game series versus the Diamondbacks that begins Monday. Through 91.2 innings, Marsh has a mediocre 4.52 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 84:29 K:BB across 18 appearances (17 starts).

Marsh (7-6) earned the win over St. Louis in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh gave up two homers but only one additional hit. The right-hander was atypically prolific in the swing-and-miss department, racking up 16 whiffs and tying his season high with eight punchouts. Marsh notched his second quality start over his past three outings, though his other appearance during that span was a poor one during which he allowed five earned runs across three frames. He's been very up-and-down during the campaign, giving up one or zero runs in six of 17 starts but five-plus runs on four occasions. That's led to a mediocre 4.57 overall ERA.
