Marsh (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Monday, Jaylon Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh reportedly threw a side session Friday, though he noted Monday that he considers his latest throwing session his first of camp. "That was pretty much my first bullpen of the year," said Marsh. "I touched the mound once before I got shut down, so I wouldn't even count that as a bullpen. That was the first time I had gotten off the mound since last year." This is a promising step forward for the right-hander, who is in the process of recovering from tightness in his right shoulder. The club will likely see how he feels following Monday's bullpen before determining if he's ready to face live hitters.

Marsh (shoulder) is slated to throw a bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh first experienced tightness in his right shoulder during his offseason throwing program and has been brought along slowly early in camp. Returning to mound work Friday offers him time to ramp up ahead of Opening Day, although he probably can't afford any setbacks. Marsh is competing for the final spot in the Royals' rotation.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Wednesday Marsh is recovering from right shoulder tightness that could delay when he will first face hitters, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh experienced the tightness during his offseason throwing program. He has resumed throwing every day and there doesn't seem to be much concern at the moment that it could be a long-term issue, but he will be a bit behind schedule. Even a slight delay for Marsh isn't ideal, as he is competing this spring to be the Royals' fifth starter. Marsh's primary competitor for that spot is Kris Bubic.

Marsh (9-9) picked up the win Sunday against Atlanta, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks across five innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh stepped into a starting role for the Royals' regular-season finale and came away with the victory. The right-hander yielded a homer to Gio Urshela in the third inning but was otherwise excellent. Marsh finishes the 2024 regular season with a 4.53 ERA and a 123:39 K:BB across 129 innings. He's expected to move back to the bullpen for postseason play.

Marsh will start in the Royals' regular-season finale against Atlanta on Sunday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh shifted to the Royals' bullpen after Michael Lorenzen (lower body) returned from the 15-day injured list Wednesday. However, with the Royals clinching a playoff spot Friday, Marsh will start in the regular-season finale, presumably to open the door for Cole Ragans to start in Kansas City's opening game of the AL Wild Card series. Across 25 outings (24 starts) this season, Marsh has an 8-9 record with a 4.65 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 121:39 K:BB across 124 innings.

Marsh is moving to the bullpen since Michael Lorenzen (hamstring) is returning to Kansas City's rotation Wednesday against Washington, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old Marsh spent the past month in the Royals' rotation but will shift to a relief role after posting a 4.37 ERA 1.32 WHIP in 22.2 innings over five starts during that span. The right-hander has started in 24 of his 25 big-league appearances this season and has a 4.65 ERA and 121:39 K:BB over 124 innings.

Marsh (8-9) took the loss versus the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out five over 2.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh needed 73 pitches (39 strikes) to get eight outs in a poor start. It's a step back after his one-run, 11-strikeout effort versus the Pirates last Friday, and it's the poorest of his five outings since he rejoined the big-league rotation in late August. Marsh is now at a 4.65 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 121:39 K:BB over 124 innings across 25 appearances (24 starts) this year. Michael Lorenzen (hamstring) lasted 3.1 innings in a rehab start last Friday with Triple-A Omaha, but he also experienced more than the usual soreness after that outing. The last spot in the Royals' rotation is due up again on the road versus the Nationals, and it's unclear if Marsh is in contention for that start, which would likely be his last of the regular season if he gets it.

Marsh (8-8) earned the win Friday over the Pirates, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out 11.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh was dominant Friday, holding Pittsburgh to a lone sixth-inning run while matching a career high with 11 strikeouts. In three starts since he was recalled from Triple-A, Marsh has allowed six runs while logging 21 strikeouts across 15.1 innings. His ERA sits at 4.52 through 121.1 innings this season with a 1.23 WHIP and 116:36 K:BB. Marsh will likely get one more start before Michael Lorenzen (hamstring) comes off the IL -- he's currently lined up to face the Tigers at home in his next outing.

Marsh allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five without walking a batter over five innings, taking a no-decision versus the Twins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Marsh threw 60 of 84 pitches for strikes in a decent start, but he received almost no help while he was in the game. The Twins put up both runs against him in the third inning, and it took until the eighth for the Royals to offer a response. Over his last three outings, Marsh has given up nine runs (seven earned) over 14.2 innings, which is a little more stability than he offered in July before he lost his spot in the rotation. Overall, he's at a 4.66 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 105:34 K:BB through 116 innings over 23 appearances (22 starts). Marsh is tentatively projected to make his next start at Pittsburgh.

Marsh is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Twins in Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
He'll be making his second straight turn through the rotation as a replacement for Michael Lorenzen (hamstring), who was placed on the injured list Aug. 28. Through 22 appearances (21 starts) for the Royals this season, Marsh has gone 7-8 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 100:34 K:BB in 111 innings.
