Cabrera has been dominating Triple-A hitters so far this season. He has a 0.87 ERA in his first 10.1 innings and has a 14:5 K:BB rate. Batters are hitting a paltry .094 against him. He has a big fastball that can hit the mid-90s and a biting slider that was once considered the best in the Cubs' farm system. His .158 BABIP is unsustainable and those five walks in 10.1 innings are concerning. But we'll still give him credit for his hot start. He's not on the Tigers' 40-man roster, so a move would need to be made to bring him up at any point this season.

Cabrera signed a minor league deal with the Tigers, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. After a brief unsuccessful stint in the majors in 2013 with the Cubs, Cabrera had a solid season for Triple-A Iowa in 2014, posting a 3.29 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. He'll start off next season in the minors for the Tigers, but he could eventually work his way back up to the big leagues.

Cubs recalled RHP Alberto Cabrera from Triple-A Iowa. The 24-year-old has struggled since being promoted to Triple-A Iowa, posting a 7.08 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 19/12 K/BB ratio over 20 1/3 innings of work. He has a power arm, and projects as a future late-inning reliever, so the Cubs will utilize the September roster expansion to get him some work at the highest level.
