Abreu was optioned to Double-A Trenton on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Abreu made three Grapefruit League appearances, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four in four innings. He'll return to Trenton, where he posted a 4.28 ERA in 23 games -- including 20 starts -- in 2019.

Abreu (shoulder) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Abreu landed on the MiLB injured list near the end of July due to a shoulder issue, but he's since returned to health and will be ready for action with Double-A Trenton moving forward. He owns a 3.81 ERA with 77 strikeouts over 82.2 innings this season with the Thunder.

Abreu is slated to undergo an MRI on Wednesday after exiting his start for Double-A Trenton a night earlier with right biceps soreness, John Healy of SNY.tv reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old's fastball was reportedly clocked at just 89 miles per hour on his final pitch of the outing before he was pulled from the contest. The MRI should shed more light on the extent of Abreu's injury, but there's a good chance that he'll at least be shut down for at least a week in a best-case scenario. Over 82.2 innings at Trenton this season, Abreu has posted a 3.81 ERA and 1.62 WHIP.

Abreu was lifted during Tuesday's start at Double-A Trenton due to an apparent shoulder injury, Greg Johnson of the Trentonian reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abreu threw 20 pitches before being removed from the contest. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, so he'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.

Abreu was optioned to Double-A Trenton on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Abreu missed the start of last season after undergoing an appendectomy, and posted a 4.16 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 65:29 K:BB in 13 starts at High-A Tampa. The 23-year-old finished the year with one start at Trenton, and returns to the Thunder to begin the 2019 season.

Abreu (appendix) is expected to pitch in simulated games soon, Dan Martin of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old has been sidelined since undergoing an appendectomy in February. Abreu will likely need a few rehab starts to build back up to a starter's workload, so it seems like he's still a few weeks away from a full return to action.

Abreu (appendix) will open the season on the disabled list at High-A Tampa, MLB.com's Jim Callis reports.
EDGE Analysis
He had an appendectomy in February, and the recovery time on that surgery typically isn't more than several weeks, so it's a bit of a surprise that he won't be ready to go for the start of the season. Abreu only logged 53.1 innings last season, plus a stint in the Arizona Fall League, so the Yankees may simply be holding him out because he wasn't going to be able to log a full season this year anyway. Once healthy, Abreu should have no problem mowing down High-A hitters (he has 46 innings under his belt at that level) and forcing a promotion to Double-A.

Abreu underwent surgery on his appendix Wednesday, which will likely keep him sidelined for the next few weeks, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team hasn't released a timetable for the right-hander at this point in time but it's highly unlikely that he will still be on the shelf by early March. Abreu is one of the top prospects in the Yankees' system and was added to the 40-man roster in November to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He has a good chance of beginning the 2018 campaign in Double-A Trenton but with spring training beginning Tuesday for pitchers and catchers, he will miss a little time in that regard. Expect an update on his status in the near future.

Abreu was added to the 40-man roster Monday.
EDGE Analysis
By adding Abreu to the 40-man roster, the Yankees will protect him from the Rule 5 draft. Abreu, who's just 22-years-old and has a fastball that can hit 100 miles per hour, dealt with a shoulder injury during the 2017 season. However, he still reached High-A Tampa, where he posted built a 4.19 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over nine games (34.1 innings).

Abreu (shoulder) will return from his rehab assignment and start Sunday's game for High-A Tampa, Nick Flammia, the play-by-play announcer for the Tampa Yankees, reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been rehabbing in the Gulf Coast League, and recently struck out six over three shutout innings in his latest rehab start. Abreu has explosive stuff and was touching triple digits with his fastball earlier this year. If he can stay healthy, he has a high ceiling as a starter and a high floor as a shutdown reliever.
