The Blue Jays optioned Macko (knee) to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Macko will get a late start to the minor-league season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery last month to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. He's without a clear timeline to make his 2025 debut, but if Macko ends up being sidelined at least two months into the season, Toronto could recall him from Triple-A and place him on their 60-day injured list to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for another player.

Macko underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Macko suffered the injury early on in camp and an operation had been expected. Blue Jays manager John Schneider was not able to offer a timetable for the lefty's return, but Macko would seem likely to miss at least the first month or so of the season. Once recovered, Macko is likely headed to Triple-A Buffalo.

Macko has a meniscus tear in his left knee that will likely require surgery, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Macko injured the knee during a bullpen session this past weekend. He will be examined further Wednesday, at which point a decision on surgery will be made. The 24-year-old is on the Blue Jays' 40-man roster but has yet to appear in the majors. He spent most of the 2024 season at Double-A New Hampshire, where he posted a 4.87 ERA and 90:30 K:BB across 81.1 frames.

Macko (forearm) was reinstated from Double-A New Hampshire's 7-day injured list Sept. 11 and promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Macko had been on the shelf at Double-A since July 6 with a left forearm injury before beginning a rehab assignment with Single-A Dunedin on Aug. 24. After three rehab starts with Dunedin, Macko returned to action for New Hampshire on Sept. 11, tossing four innings while allowing six runs in a loss to Somerset. Despite the poor showing, Macko moved up to Buffalo and made his Triple-A debut Tuesday, when he struck out three while allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over three innings.

Double-A New Hampshire placed Macko on its 7-day injured list Saturday with left forearm soreness, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury cropped up during Macko's most recent start July 2 before New Hampshire opted to deactivate him a few days later. The 23-year-old lefty is rehabbing the injury, but if he's unable to make much progress in his recovery in the weeks to come, surgery could become a more distinct possibility. Macko had produced a 4.42 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 86:26 K:BB in 77.1 innings with New Hampshire before being shut down.

Macko could get promoted to Triple-A Buffalo in the near future, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old southpaw, acquired from Seattle two offseasons ago, is having a strong campaign with Double-A New Hampshire thanks to improved control. He's found another gear over the last month, posting a 2.81 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 46:7 K:BB through his last six starts and 32 innings. Macko features a mid-90s fastball and a big curveball, but it's the development of his changeup and sweeper that will determine whether he can ultimately thrive in a big-league rotation.

The Blue Jays optioned Macko to Triple-A Buffalo on March 8.
EDGE Analysis
Macko attended his first big-league spring training with Toronto after he was protected from the Rule 5 Draft over the winter and added to the 40-man roster, but the Blue Jays' decision to cut him early in camp suggests he was never particularly close to winning a spot on the 26-man Opening Day roster. The 23-year-old left has yet to pitch above the High-A level and is likely at least a year away from making his MLB debut.

High-A Everett transferred Macko from the 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on July 23 while he continues to deal with an unspecified injury.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners haven't acknowledged the nature of Macko's injury, but he hasn't pitched for Everett since May 21 and is without a clear timeline for a return. Before hitting the shelf, the 21-year-old lefty turned in a 3.99 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 60:20 K:BB over 38.1 innings.
