Lind (back) expects to make his Cactus League debut Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Lind's back issue from last season resurfaced last week while fielding grounders, but he's since reported that he's noticed improvement in his lower back. It's an encouraging sign that he expects to the lineup in the near future, but it will be important to monitor how it holds up after game action.

Lind's lower-back issue is improving and he hopes to make his spring training debut in the near future, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Lind's back issue is some cause for concern given a history of issues dating back to last season. While it appears the injury is subsiding, his return date isn't assured at this point, but it sounds like it could come at some point this week if everything goes well.

Lind's back issue resurfaced Tuesday while taking grounders, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. However, manager Ron Roenicke hopes it will only be a few days before he can return. Lind suffered a back injury late in the 2014 campaign, and it's possible at hasn't completely subsided. The Brewers want him to get in as many reps against left-handed pitching as possible in spring training, but the issue will likely keep him off the field for at least a few days.

The Brewers want to see Lind face left-handed pitching this spring, mlb.com's Adam McCalvy reports. It was generally assumed that the Brewers traded for Lind with a platoon in mind, and this doesn't really change the expectation. The team may see if there are any tweaks they can make, but it's hard to argue with Lind's hideous track record against southpaws. The 31-year-old produced excellent rate numbers in 2013 and 2014, but between injuries and his inability to hit lefties, Lind doesn't have a high ceiling for plate appearances.

Lind was traded from Toronto to Milwaukee on Saturday in exchange for Marco Estrada, Blue Jays' announcer Mike Wilner reports. The Blue Jays had just picked up Lind's $7.5 million option for 2015, so the Brewers may only have him for one season, but it definitely fills a significant hole at first base in the short term. Milwaukee will need to pair Lind with a platoon partner, as he really should only face righties, whom he slashed .354/.409/.533 against in 2014. This doesn't have a major impact on Lind's fantasy value, as he would have had a major role as the Blue Jays' DH in 2015, but it makes the Brewers' lineup against right-handed pitching noticeably better for the upcoming season.

The Blue Jays will pick up Lind's $7.5 million option for 2015, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports. Lind isn't an everyday player, but he crushes right-handed pitching (.354 average with six home runs in 257 at-bats in 2014), and is an excellent option for the strong side of a designated hitter platoon.

Lind is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, according to John Lott of The National Post. With left-hander Wei-Yin Chen starting for the Orioles, Lind will sit out as he regular does against southpaws. John Mayberry will get the start at first base in Lind's place.

Lind (back) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Barry Davis of Sportsnet.ca reports. Lind's back locked up over the weekend, forcing him to miss the final two games of the Yankees series as well as Monday's opener against Seattle. Fortunately, it seems his discomfort has subsided, as he's penciled in to man first and bat cleanup against right-hander Felix Hernandez. Lind is 5-for-22 (.227 average) with a homer in his career against Hernandez.
