Toro started as first base and went 1-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 10-8 extra-innings loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
There was much turmoil caused by Rafael Devers' refusal to play first base and Boston's scrapped experiment with Kristian Campbell to move there, but Toro may have been the answer all along. He's reached base safely in 10 consecutive games, going 17-for-40 (.425) with five doubles, one home run and seven RBI during the streak. Toro is slashing .333/.352/.563 over 25 games for Boston, but it's fair to question if he can sustain that over the long haul.

Toro went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI double, an additional double and an additional run scored during Sunday's 11-7 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Toro and Trevor Story swatted back-to-back solo home runs during the eighth inning of Sunday's victory. Toro added a pair of doubles to complete the monster game and notched his fourth straight multi-hit performance. Since the start of June, Toro is 12-for-28 (.429) with five runs and five RBI over seven games.

Toro started at third base and went 1-for-4 in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Toro, who had been the regular starter at first base, shifted to third base while Romy Gonzalez, fresh off the injured list, started at first. Toro is batting .306 with an .822 OPS over 19 games since his contract was selected from Triple-A Worcester. The two could share the position going forward after Red Sox manager Alex Cora scrapped a plan to give Kristian Campbell starts there.

Toro will start at first base and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Toro appears to have emerged as the Red Sox's preferred option at first base. He'll pick up his third straight start at the position after going 4-for-7 with a double, an RBI and a run through the first two contests in Atlanta to boost his OPS to .833 over 54 plate appearances on the season. Toro will need to continue to perform well to maintain his hold on an everyday role, however. Romy Gonzalez (quadriceps) could return from the 10-day injured list later this week to push Toro for playing time, while Kristian Campbell has taken pregame reps at first base in recent weeks and could soon make his debut at the position.

Toro started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
First base has been chaotic since Triston Casas (knee) suffered a season-ending injury, but Toro has made a case for himself. He's gone 14-for-42 (.333) with three home runs, four doubles, five RBI and seven runs scored over the last 12 games. However, the Red Sox intend to experiment with Kristian Campbell at first base for at least one game during this weekend's series in Atlanta.

Toro went a combined 1-for-5 with two solo home runs across Saturday's doubleheader split against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Toro started at first base in Game 1 and slugged a fifth-inning solo shot to right-center field. He began the nightcap on the bench but entered as a defensive replacement in the eighth. Toro belted another solo blast in the ninth frame in his lone Game 2 plate appearance, accounting for Boston's only run of the contest. The 28-year-old's opportunities have been sporadic this season, and he's started just once in the team's past six games, but Toro could start to see a bit more playing time with Romy Gonzalez (quad) suffering a setback in his recovery earlier in the week and Alex Bregman (quad) landing on the 10-day IL on Saturday.

Toro started at first base and went 1-for-3 in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
It was mostly a good night for Toro, who made his first start since having his contract selected from Triple-A Worcester last Saturday. He was involved in an unassisted double play early and later roped an opposite-field single off the Green Monster, though he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Romy Gonzalez had started the two previous games at first base in place of the injured Triston Casas (knee) before Toro got his shot Tuesday. For now, there are no plans to move Rafael Devers from DH to first base, so it looks like manager Alex Cora will make do with a Toro/Gonzalez rotation.

The Red Sox selected Toro's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
With Triston Casas (knee) likely out for the rest of the season, the Red Sox will turn to Toro to provide the big club with infield depth. The 28-year-old got off to a great start in the minors, slashing .310/.403/.480 with 13 RBI and 16 runs scored through 119 plate appearances.

The Red Sox signed Toro to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Toro slashed .240/.293/.350 with six homers in 94 games with the Athletics in 2024. The 28-year-old will compete for a reserve role this spring but will likely begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Worcester as utility depth.

The Athletics outrighted Toro to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday after he cleared waivers.
EDGE Analysis
With none of MLB's other 29 teams putting in a waiver claim for Toro after he was designated for assignment Tuesday, the 27-year-old will stick around in the Oakland organization as infield depth at the Triple-A level. Toro slashed .240/.293/.350 with six home runs, four stolen bases, 26 RBI and 34 runs over 364 plate appearances with the Athletics before losing his spot on the 40-man roster.
