The Twins selected Sanchez's contract from Triple-A St. Paul and will have him start Monday's game against the Tigers at Target Field.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez may be moved off the roster immediately after the outing, as the team's fifth starter heading into the All-Star break, Devin Smeltzer, isn't eligible to pitch for big club for 15 days after he was optioned to Triple-A on July 17. Smeltzer will be eligible for a call-up the next time the Twins require a fifth starter Saturday against Toronto, so Sanchez may need to dazzle in his Minnesota debut to ensure he receives more than a spot start. Sanchez was roughed up to the tune of an 8.33 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across seven starts in the majors with the Nationals earlier this season, and his numbers at Triple-A in the Twins organization (4.26 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 9.1 K-BB%) haven't been much better, considering the level of competition.

Sanchez signed a minor-league deal with the Twins on Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez struggled to an 8.33 ERA and an 11.3 percent strikeout rate in seven starts for the Nationals before being designated for assignment in late May. He'll give the Twins some added rotation depth, but given that he owns a 5.34 ERA since the start of the 2017 season, they're unlikely to turn to him unless injuries force their hand. He'll report to Triple-A St. Paul for now.

Sanchez elected free agency Tuesday after clearing waivers, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rather than accepting a minor-league assignment after the Nationals designated him for assignment over the weekend, Sanchez will try his luck on the open market. Sanchez likely won't garner anything more than a minor-league deal with limited incentives after he turned in an 8.33 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 5.7 K-BB% over seven starts with Washington prior to losing his spot on the 40-man roster.

Sanchez was designated for assignment by the Nationals following his start Saturday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez pitched 3.2 frames, allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out three in the Nationals' Game 1 win over the Rockies during Saturday's doubleheader. The 29-year-old did not factor into the decision and was designated for assignment after the second game concluded. He will now report to Triple-A Rochester, get claimed by another team or get released outright. Sanchez owns an abysmal 8.33 ERA and 1.76 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 31.1 innings in seven starts this year.

Sanchez won't start against the Rockies as scheduled Friday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The contest will be made up via a twin bill Saturday, with Sanchez likely to be on the mound for one of those games. Joan Adon was Saturday's regularly scheduled pitcher and should start the other contest.

Sanchez (3-3) earned the win during Sunday's 8-2 victory over Milwaukee, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks with one strikeout in five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez was staked to an eight-run lead early and kept Milwaukee off the board until the fifth inning, when Tyrone Taylor tagged him for a two-run home run. The 29-year-old topped out at 89 pitches but hasn't missed many bats with no more than four strikeouts in any of his six starts and has now alternated decisions in every turn. He'll carry a 7.16 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 13 strikeouts into a start slated to come against Colorado next weekend.

Sanchez took the loss after allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings Monday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez was spotted an early 1-0 lead after Washington pushed across a run in the first inning, but the right-hander surrendered four runs in the bottom of the second, as six straight batters would reach after retiring the first hitter of the frame. Sanchez has yet to work six full innings over five starts in 2022, with his longest outing lasting 5.1 innings his last time out against the Mets.

Sanchez (hand) is listed as the Nationals' starting pitcher for Monday's series opener in Miami.
EDGE Analysis
During his most recent start May 11 against the Mets, Sanchez dealt with what manager Dave Martinez called a bone bruise on his non-throwing hand. Fortunately for Sanchez, the injury doesn't look like it'll be anything that affects him in his field, so he'll stay on turn in the rotation for his fifth start with Washington. Through his first four outings, Sanchez has posted a 7.58 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 19 innings.

Manager Dave Martinez said Sanchez suffered a "little bone bruise" on his left hand during Wednesday's start against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. The right-hander (2-2) earned the win after allowing three runs on six hits with one strikeout and zero walks over 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old was struck by a 113-mph comebacker during the sixth inning to end his evening, but he's expected to make his next turn through the rotation Monday in Miami. Sanchez surrendered three runs during the opening frame but otherwise kept New York off the board. He threw 51 of his 76 pitches for strikes and tied his season low with one strikeout.

Sanchez (1-2) allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out four across 4.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez was handed an early two-run lead, though he coughed that up quickly by giving up a three-run homer in the second inning. He also allowed three of the first four batters he faced to reach base in the fifth, all of which eventually came around to score. Sanchez has now allowed at least three earned runs in each of his three starts while failing to work more than five frames on any occasion. He owns an 8.56 ERA with a 9:3 K:BB across 13.2 innings on the season.
