Hill (pinky) is out of the lineup Friday against the Cardinals. Hill dislocated his pinky finger in Monday night's game but hopes to return before the season ends. He won't rejoin the lineup Friday, leaving Saturday and Sunday as his only opportunities left.

Hill had his pinkie finger in a splint following Monday night's game. Hill still hopes to play before the end of the season this weekend, but it seems pretty likely that he'll miss a couple of games at the very least.

Hill was forced to leave Monday's game after the tip of his right pinky finger was dislocated. He remains day-to-day. Hill finished the game with two hits and a run scored on four at-bats. Considering the severity of the injury, it's possible that Hill may have to miss a portion of Arizona's final five games of the season.

Hill is not in the lineup Saturday. Jake Lamb will once again man the hot corner, as Hill seems to be loosing his grip on playing time down the stretch. He has started just two of the last five games, and those chasing counting stats may want to look for a more consistent option.

Hill is out of the lineup Thursday against the Giants. Thursday's absence will mark Hill's sixth in the team's last nine games. It's been a disappointing year for the 32-year-old, and the Diamondbacks seem intent on getting an extended look at Chris Owings at second base over the final weeks.

Hill is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers. Hill has made just two starts in the Diamondbacks' last five games, as manager Kirk Gibson continues to rest the veteran down the stretch, allowing the younger infielders to see additional reps. Chris Owings will man the keystone Sunday, with Jake Lamb taking over at the hot corner.

Hill may see his playing time dwindle down the stretch, as the Diamondbacks seem to like playing Chris Owings at second base with Didi Gregorius at shortstop and Jake Lamb at third base, leaving Hill as the occasional odd man out. This is the third time he's been out of the lineup over Arizona's last four games.

Hill is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Padres. The Diamondbacks have previously stated a desire to give Hill some rest down the stretch in order to give their younger middle infielders some at-bats, and it looks like that will be the case Wednesday. Chris Owings moves over from his usual post at shortstop to pick up some reps at the keystone.

Hill is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Padres. Hill will yield the start at second base to Cliff Pennington on Tuesday, who will bat second for the Diamondbacks. There will likely be a lot of fluidity at second and shortstop with the return of Chris Owings on Tuesday, but Hill should see a good chunk of starts at second throughout September.

Hill is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies. Hill has had a rough August, hitting just .174, so manager Kirk Gibson decided to give him a night off following an oh-fer Thursday. Cliff Pennington will get the start at second base in Hill's place.
