Ashby tossed two scoreless innings of relief in Wednesday's spring game against the Angels. He did not allow a hit, struck out two batters and walked one.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby has appeared in only three games this spring, and after starting the first two he worked out of the bullpen Wednesday. Ashby was extended all the way to 50 pitches his previous time out, so it was fair to wonder if he was being considered for a rotation spot. However, he was limited to 22 pitches just over a week from Opening Day, so it appears the plan is to keep him in the bullpen. If Ashby does wind up making starts during the regular season, he most likely will work as an opener.

Ashby tossed two scoreless innings in Thursday's spring game against the Rangers. He allowed three hits, walked one batter and struck out none.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby was not particularly sharp in his spring debut, but he was able to keep the opponent off the scoreboard. He started Thursday's contest and per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com has not officially been ruled out of the rotation mix, but the southpaw has started only three games over the last two seasons, so he will likely remain in the bullpen. If Ashby does make any starts during the regular season it will likely be as an opener -- something he did three times last postseason.

Ashby will serve as the Brewers' opening pitcher in Thursday's Game 3 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby tossed a scoreless frame as the opener in NLCS Game 1 and will get another opportunity to open in Game 3 as the series moves to Los Angeles. He's expected to be followed by Jacob Misiorowski, who is in line to eat up most of the innings for the Brewers as a bulk reliever.

Ashby will be the Brewers' opening pitcher Monday in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby struggled as the opener in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Cubs, yielding three runs over 1.2 innings. However, lefties slashed just .193/.299/.241 against the southpaw during the regular season, so it makes sense to use Ashby in this spot to face Shohei Ohtani and likely Freddie Freeman. Quinn Priester is expected to provide bulk relief for the Brewers in Game 1.

Manager Pat Murphy said that Ashby is slated to serve as the Brewers' opening pitcher Monday for Game 2 of the NLDS against the Cubs, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy didn't divulge whether the Brewers would use a bulk reliever behind Ashby or if the team would treat Game 2 as a bullpen day, but all of Milwaukee's starters save for Freddy Peralta would be available to pitch once Ashby exits the contest. Ashby maxed out at 3.2 innings and 50 pitches over his 43 appearances during the regular season, but the Brewers are unlikely to have him work more than once through the order before pulling him from the Game 2 start. Ashby will be pitching on one day of rest after making a 1.1-inning, 16-pitch appearance in Milwaukee's 9-3 win in Game 1 on Saturday.

Ashby gave up a run on a hit and a walk over 1.2 innings Saturday to record his third save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Pirates. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
With Trevor Megill (elbow) on the shelf and Abner Uribe having worked three of the first five days in September, Ashby was leaned on to close things out after entering the game with the tying run on deck and one out in the eighth inning. The save was Ashby's first since July 29, but he's been a fairly reliable high-leverage arm for the Brewers since the beginning of August, posting a 2.62 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB over his last 24 innings. Uribe should continue to be the primary ninth-inning option while Megill is on the IL, and even in situations that might call for a left-hander to get the save, Jared Koenig -- who got the final outs Wednesday and also pitched Friday -- seems to be ahead of Ashby in the pecking order.

Ashby will be used as the Brewers' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Andrew Wagner of 105.7 The Fan Milwaukee reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby will draw his first start of the season Wednesday, but since he'll be pitching on just one day of rest after a 1.2-inning relief appearance in Monday's series-opening win, the Brewers likely won't ask him to cover more than a frame or two. The newly signed Erick Fedde is expected to work in bulk relief behind Ashby, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.

Ashby allowed a run on one hit and a walk over 3.1 innings Tuesday, striking out two and earning a save against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby entered the sixth inning with two outs and two runners in scoring position. He forced a Matt Shaw pop out to end the threat and would go on to finish the contest. Ashby threw 42 pitches and earned his first save since June 12. He now owns a 2.05 ERA with a 33:12 K:BB through 30.2 frames out of the bullpen. Ashby helped give Milwaukee's other relief arms some rest in Tuesday's 9-3 win and won't see many traditional save chances.

The Brewers reinstated Ashby (personal) from the paternity list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Ashby will rejoin the Brewers to begin the second half after he missed the final three games before the All-Star break to observe the birth of his child. Through 13 appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season, Ashby has compiled a 1.66 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB in 21.2 innings while collecting one win and one save.

The Brewers placed Ashby on the paternity list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander will step away from the team ahead of the final series before the All-Star break in order to be with his growing family. Ashby should be back with the Brewers by the start of the second half next week.
