How do I create defensive scoring tiers?

Fleaflicker's scoring system is very flexible and can easily accommodate any custom scoring tiers.

Here is an example of scoring tiers for points allowed. Go to League » Settings » Edit Scoring Rules » Custom » New Defense Rule:

Step 1: Decide which points category to use

Commissioners can select from

  • Points allowed—total points, the final score on the scoreboard.
  • Offensive + special teams points allowed (recommended)—excludes returned interceptions, fumbles, and safeties that weren't surrendered by the defense or special teams units.

Step 2: Select a rule type

For scoring tiers, commissioners will select from the 3 last options phrased as P extra points when points allowed is...

Step 3:

Enter the desired points and ranges. All of the ranges in scoring definitions are inclusive which means the endpoints are considered part of the rule.

Save and repeat, adding one rule for each tier. The end result looks something like:

  • 10 extra points when total Offensive + Special Teams Points Allowed is exactly 0
  • 7 extra points when total Offensive + Special Teams Points Allowed is between 1 and 6 (inclusive)
  • 5 extra points when total Offensive + Special Teams Points Allowed is between 7 and 13 (inclusive)
  • 3 extra points when total Offensive + Special Teams Points Allowed is between 14 and 20 (inclusive)
  • -1 extra point when total Offensive + Special Teams Points Allowed is between 28 and 34 (inclusive)
  • -3 extra points when total Offensive + Special Teams Points Allowed is greater than or equal to 35
