Here's the info from the Owner's Manual around timing:

When are rookies added to the player pool?

For NFL, NBA, and NHL, rookies are added within 24 hours of the time they selected in their league's entry draft.

For MLB, we add top prospects (those players that show the most promise) from the minor leagues. The top prospects list is updated throughout the season.
