We have a rule in our league where you can steal a player from another team's taxi squad by offering a 2nd and 4th round draft pick from the next draft. If any of these picks are not available a round higher pick would need to be used. The owner of said player then has 24 hours to either accept the picks for the player or promote him to the active roster.
Not sure how this could be implemented but it adds a bit of extra roster management and stops people stashing breakout players on their taxi all year, thus getting the best players into active rosters each week.

1) being allowed to set restriction by years in league (rookies, 2 years, etc)
2) being able to draft directly to squad instead of having to move/drop current players
3) being able to have option of limiting player coming off taxi to go back on
