This statement just came out from Roddy White. Would please like opinions on White playing with Julio Jones vs Nelson playing with Greg Jennings - PPR=.5 per catch:
Roddy White says new Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter plans to lean on the 30-year-old receiver less in 2012.
"We switched some things up," White said. "We are doing the things [Koetter] likes to do. He's a smart guy, and he knows what we do best." White has at least 100 catches in back-to-back seasons. It sounds like he doesn't expect a third year of that. "I know that sounds crazy, but we've got other guys out there that can play," White said. "Julio is going to be a big part of the offense this year. Harry [Douglas] is going to do wonders in the slot. We have to maximize our talent and get the ball in everyone's hands."
White and Jones will put up better numbers than Jennings and Nelson. Rodgers has more receiving options in Green Bay than Ryan has in Atlanta, lessening all individual Packer receiver stats. Douglas is not going to put up good numbers for the Falcons. He was a free agent this offseason who didn't receive interest from any other team but Atlanta.
But here is the quote from the Packers that is making my decision so hard, coupled with the fact that Jordy did better than White for me last year (but both did very well, and I would have won the league, had Romo not gone down for my final playoff game). Ended up with 2nd and $75 though.
Packers HC Mike McCarthy on WR Jordy Nelson: “Jordy is a perfect example of a guy who was given more opportunities last year and performed outstanding. We’ll keep moving him around, probably play him in the slot a little more than he’s played in the past. Those are the kind of things we continue to look at, give him more matchups, expand his route tree where he’s maybe more of the focus. Not that he can’t run those routes, it’s more about having the opportunity because statistics speak for themselves."
Thus, my difficult decision. I appreciate your thoughts - will definitely help me decide, because I don't know football well, I go by the numbers.
Agreed. Go with your gut and Nelson. If you go with Nelson and he doesn't do well, you will still feel better than you would if you go with White and he doesn't do well.
Thanks - you are probably right about that. But if I pick Nelson and White does lots better all of you can say you told me so! I really appreciate all of your help! THANK YOU!
OK guys -- I have decided to go with White for sure (barring any unforseen circumstances before our keepers get locked in. Thank you both for your sincere opinions!

Nelson scored a lot on big plays last year. You can't count on that happening on a consistent basis.

We can't really count on anything happening on a consistent basis, can we? :).

Plus, White probably won't lead the league in drops again.

Why not? And isn't Nelson less injury-prone than White? This is a really hard decision - and it is for my money league.

Sounds like you already have your decision made, but I think the consensus would say White. And they would all say White for the same reasons.

No one will say that. No one knows the answer. It's your money. Do what you think is best.

I know, but it really does help a lot to see consider other opinions when trying to decide.

Oops - that should say thank you all -- including Scotto's first reply :).
