I can only start one: Eli Manning, Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco. Is there any hope at all?

Silly_Billy Fri 9/16/11 12:50 PM

OK guys...Flacco or Rivers .......WEEK 2???

Damn, that's another tough call. Think you have to go Rivers, though. He's a lock to throw it over 40 times. The Ravens could totally smoke the Titans, and let Ray Rice spend the second half running the clock out. Could make a solid case for either, though.

you make all the sense in the world!!! thank ya!!! appreciate it....

Ha, thanks. I won't say that Rivers is risk-free: The Chargers are a totally different team on the road, and they were barely able to put the putrid Vikings away at home. There is the outside potential of an implosion. But I think even an average/mediocre outing for Rivers would be 300 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT. You should be good to go!

Loved your feedback!!! Green-Ellis or Starks in week 3..... and D. Jackson or Boldin... I am starting V. Jackson and S. Moss. RB's I am starting Blount

Hey, thanks! Sorry, would have replied when you first posted this, but fleaflicker ate my lengthy response, which agitated me for a bit. Looks like I was pretty much right on the money about Rivers' "worst-case scenario", which still wasn't that bad at all!

Blount, Green-Ellis, and Starks are all dicey plays. Blount and BJGE have very specific/limited situations where they are used, which makes them difficult to predict or trust; they just don't have enough control over their own opportunities. That said, Blount against Atlanta looks good on paper. The Falcons defense is not built to stuff the run, and Tampa knows they will need to win in the trenches to win this game. Blount should get the rock upwards of 15 times, but that is hardly a guarantee. BJGE gets Buffalo, who are perennially putrid against the run, but this game has the look of a serious barnburner - I am getting premonitions of 44-41, already. That said, Law Firm is still a good bet to knock in a cheap, short TD, maybe even two. Even though Starks is just as good as Blount (and probably better), I'd sit him. Green Bay doesn't really care about establishing the run, and against a mean run D like Chicago's, they might not even try. Getting Jermichael Finley going is probably much more of a priority (at least I hope).

Santana Moss is a must-start, he always kills it against the Cowboys (remember that MNF game a few years ago when he scored on two long bombs from Brunell in the fourth quarter in Dallas, and the Redskins ended up winning 14-13?). I certainly wouldn't tell you to bench V-Jax, but it might not be a bad idea. The Chargers are going to absolutely murder KC, just like everybody else probably will. The Chargers could very well spend the second half running the clock out with Mathews/Tolbert. Plus, V-Jax is going to get pseudo-shutdown corner Brandon Flowers on him for most of the day. Meanwhile, DeSean gets a battered Giants' secondary that he ate alive last year. Can't sit him. Boldin gets the Rams, who have also had a rash of injuries to their corners. I won't recommend Boldin over V-Jax, just because Jackson & Jackson is so catchy. But if you had a good gut feeling about Anquan this week, starting him over Vincent wouldn't be the worst idea ever.

Good luck!
