We cleared non keepers from rosters this past sunday and will draft this coming sunday.
We have already had a couple players traded in the last couple of days. I went to do a mock draft and noticed some of those players that had been traded were available for to be drafted. Is this what will happen when the actual draft starts? We are planning on doing an email draft.
Also we have 33 player rosters for the preseason and allow 26 keepers, if an owner has traded a player for a 2016 draft pick and now only has 25 players, will he be given an extra pick in the draft or finish the draft with only 32 players?
I do not have experience with mocks here, but if each team has the keeper tag set on their keepers (a green thumbtack will be next to the player name) then they will be protected from drafting.
A few notes on draft pick trading. The site will show you all the picks required to complete your full roster, regardless of how many trades. The number of picks (how many rounds deep) that you see for each team will depend on two things: 1. How many picks they have traded for or away 2. If their keepers are logged in the system. For 1, the system will adjust to fill rosters, as noted above.
For 2, You can ave your keepers set all year or not; nothing changes except at the end of the year when you go to clear rosters people will have to have keepers set then. Having them set during the year the site will factor that into that player's draft picks. With 20 keepers set on a roster the site will show that player's last 20 picks "unsused" as those roster spots are taken by keepers. Each team ends up having a different amount of keepers set at any given time, so the number of unused spots tends to vary by team. You can trade any pick even if it will end up unused. I would recommend telling your league they can only trade picks in the first 7 rounds, as you will only have a 7 round draft each year. That will avoid any need for everyone to always tag their full 26 keepers during the season. The commissioner can just veto and trades for picks after round 7 if people do not listen.
