Our incredibly active, unique, and competitive 12-team MLB dynasty league seeks a new owner to play what we consider the best format of fantasy baseball ever invented. The core of the league has been together for 25 years and our entire structure was built to mimic real MLB team management as much as possible.
League Structure: 12 teams in three divisions that restructure every three years based on win-loss record. We play a regular season of 50 3-day head-to-head match-ups from April-September with four teams (three division winners and one wildcard) making a two-round playoffs. First round is best of three, championship is best of five games. 10 MLB keepers, 15 minor league keepers per team (minor league eligibility as defined by our own PA/IP criteria).
We run the league on CBS. We don't play for money. There's a token $17.50 administrative fee to cover CBS costs and shipping the trophy to the champion due by all teams except the previous year's winner. Every owner is extremely active.
Roster Structure: Daily lineups. 23 active/reserve slots. 9 active hitters (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF plus DH), 2 active relief pitchers, and three active starting pitchers (each team can use 3 starting pitcher starts per three day game). 15 person minor league team with position limits. Most teams will carry 11-13 hitters, 7-9 starting pitchers, and 2-3 relief pitchers.
Scoring System: It's H2H Points, but think fantasy football style. Every 3 days is a new game and a new opponent so off days, nagging injuries, rotation shuffles, weather, good/bad luck, etc. really come into play just like in real life. Our league's founder was a mathematician and created a weighted scoring system that equally values hitting, starting pitching, and relief pitching in a way that makes roster construction strategy fascinating and offers many, many different avenues in team-building.
Draft: Live and slow (90 minutes per pick), typically starting the last weekend in March before the first game. 13 rounds. Draft does not snake. Order determined by previous year's win loss record and playoff results. In-draft trades are allowed.
Transactions: Daily and unlimited. A waivers system. Can trade draft picks for the current season and next. Trade deadline after 40 games. I don't believe there's ever been a vetoed trade in league history...maybe one? Because of the nature of the league and the depth of minor league players, teams are often in win-now vs. rebuild mode and that makes for very interesting moves.
Team Available: It's not good! But...you do have the first overall draft pick. Typically, a team can rebuild from abject garbage to respectability in two years and with a sound strategy, good fortune in trades and some strong drafts, can compete for the playoffs in three years.
