Our bench players are locked after their game starts. We do not have a waiver system in our league...
We normally allow our bench players to be unlocked even if their game starts.. Only the players in the Starting Lineup will be locked after their game starts..
I believe last year we had the option to keep our bench players unlocked..
I am new to FF, and just wondering why it matters that bench players are locked?
Theoretically, I would expect once the game begins for that player/team, you can not make any roster change for that player until the waiver period opens the following week, or the last game of the weekend is played Monday night.
Many leagues don't play w/ waivers. They play on a first come, first server basis. When you lock bench players in this system, it defeats the purpose of these leagues.
B-40, I am still not clear so I am going to use an example to see if this helps me.
If Matt Hasselback is on my bench and his game starts at 4:15, is he locked before 4:15 which prevents me from either using him or dropping him so I can pick up someone else?
Also, if Hasselback is on my bench and not starting, can others claim him before 4:15 and use him for the 4:15 game?
thx much. I am not against the request from the community but just trying to learn the FF way of doing things. I guess I will need to go back and re-read the rules when I get a minute or so (SMILE).
B-40, I can not speak to past years, but if you release a bench player after his game starts then your opponent and others in the league are not able to use this player. For example, if I had Matt Hasselback on the bench and my opponent had a less proficient QB he had to use such as Kyle Orton (sorry Kyle), then it would be unfair for me to sit on Hasselback until the Seattle game starts and then allow me to release him so I can sit on another player on my bench for the same weekend who might potentially be playing Sunday or Monday night.
This is exactly why it is not common to leave bench players unlocked. There are leagues, though, where this is allowed and is part of the strategy which is why they want those players unlocked.
Bench players should be locked once their team plays in most cases. The only exception is for leagues that allow player movement without using a waiver system (like a few people below have said).
Oh crap! I thought it was just an inadvertant switch. You mean our bench players are locked now? We have NEVER locked the bench players.
We have a free-wheeling league with no waivers and it is a free-for-all for free agents. PLEASE tell me we don't have to lock our bench players. How do you switch it back?

Please keep us updated on this. I have already taken grief from my owners.

Any news on this fix?
fleafounder AdminTue 9/15/09 7:54 PM
Yes it was changed back earlier today. It's under transaction options.
Pigskin_PimpTue 9/15/09 8:26 PM
Does that mean we need to have the commish go in & edit or will it revert back to what we had set up originally?
fleafounder AdminMon 9/14/09 2:20 PM
You guys are right, we'll add this option back shortly, hopefully before tonight's game.

game time is irrelevant for bench players. If a player is on your bench he is never locked.
Only Starters are locked at their game time.
Bench players can be dropped during their games, and you can pick up a different player at any time. There is no claim system.
If you add a player, they are yours. The 1st person who adds a player gets that player. No waivers.

OK, I kind of figured that this might be a part of the strategy. Thx for taking time to respond.

Ditto. No good reason to lock bench players. Please fix quickly!

FF can we get any feedback? At least a reply saying that were working on this would be nice.
