This question may be as simple as, does an illegal roster affect how the draft works for that team?
More specifically: If I understand correctly, a keeper that is on IR will remain there when cuts are made which results in an extra bench spot for the draft. Is this still true if the player in question was added to IR when injured, but has since had their status changed to active, resulting in an illegal IR? (The Draft page currently shows these illegal IR spots as adding an available draft round for that roster.)
Or, does it work similarly to the regular season where a team cannot add a new player when their roster is in an illegal state? If so, what happens when the draft comes along? Is a warning shown, or is the team's total number of draftable slots reduced?
