Jonathan Bernier G TOR 20 Hrs

Bernier made 43 saves in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Stars. It was his second shutout of the season. His save total was one short of his season high.

He was sharp, but the Leafs need to clean up their act -- they can't continue to rely on their twinetenders like this. It's exactly the same pattern that happened last season and the Buds failed to get to the postseason after overworking their goalies. Bernier rebounded nicely after Saturday's seven-goal stinker against Philly, but enough is enough.

Bernier will start between the pipes Tuesday against the Stars, Jonas Siegel of TSN 1050 reports.

Bernier is coming off an atrocious outing in which he allowed seven goals on 41 shots against the Flyers. He will look for a turnaround game Tuesday before the team heads into a three-day holiday break.

Bernier was chased from the Leafs' net midway through the third period of Saturday's game after yielding seven goals.

His first-period save percentage was a stinky .666; he finished with .829 (seven goals on31 games). He'd been the star when the Leafs were winning. Now he's the goat. We expect him to rebound soon enough, but a game like that stings.

Bernier will be in the crease Saturday against the Flyers, Jonas Siegel of TSN Radio 1050 reports.

Bernier's four-game winning streak came to a screeching halt with a 4-1 defeat Thursday against the lowly Hurricanes, but Saturday's match represents a good opportunity for redemption. Though the Flyers boast a capable attack, Bernier may not need to perform that well to capture the win, as backup goalie Ray Emery will be in the net behind Philly's suspect defense. With Saturday's contest marking the first of a back-to-back set, look for Bernier to be rested for Sunday's tilt with the Blackhawks in favor of understudy James Reimer.

Bernier stopped 33 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Carolina. He allowed three goals.

So much for the gimme -- the Canes were on and the Leafs were not. Just one goal came at even strength, but he also allowed a shortie, too. Still, it's just his first loss in five games and just his third in his last 10. The Leafs were poised for a loss after winning six straight. No worries.

Bernier will be in the crease Thursday against the Hurricanes, Jonas Siegel of TSN Radio 1050 reports.

Aside from perhaps Columbus' Sergei Bobrovsky, Bernier may be as hot as any goalie in the league at the moment. He's won each of his last four starts, submitting save percentages above .950 in all of them. Considering his hot play and the Hurricanes' league-low 19 points on the season, Bernier might be the best goalie play across the entire Thursday slate.

Bernier made 40 saves in Toronto's 6-2 win over Anaheim on Tuesday night.

He earned the game's second star for his efforts. He's now 8-1-1 in his last 10; that's the period since that fateful game against Nashville on Nov. 20 when he was yanked after the first period. And other than the nine goals against in losses to the Devils and Pens, he has allowed just 14 goals in the remaining eight contests. He's a great activation right now.

Bernier will start Tuesday's game against the Ducks, TSN's Jonas Siegel reports.

Bernier, who gave up four total goals over his last three starts, will be looking for his fourth straight win Tuesday night. He will face a stiff challenge however from a Ducks team that currently leads the NHL with 47 points.

Bernier made 27 saves in Saturday's 4-1 win over Detroit. The only goal he allowed came on the power play.

He was solid throughout, even when the two teams traded chances early in the game. He has won five games in his last six outings and is firmly entrenched as the Buds' top dog. But the team does like to split up back-to-back games, so that means he's tentative for Sunday's game.

Bernier will be in the crease Saturday against the Red Wings, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

It was expected that the Leafs would save Bernier for the second game of their weekend back-to-back for a matchup against his former team, Los Angeles, but those possible plans might have been scrapped after James Reimer tweaked his groin during Friday's practice. Coach Randy Carlyle still plans to use both of his goalies over the weekend, but by going with Bernier on Saturday, he'll give Reimer a day to rest up. Bernier has been outstanding in each of his last two outings, stopping a combined 76-of-79 shots in victories over the Canucks and Flames.
