Scott Hannan D SAN 3 Days

Hannan should not be on your fantasy radar. He's played just four games in March and has just two points in his last 13 games.

Hannan has never been a top tier defensive option in fantasy, but he may be in decline from what he once was. In addition, he's getting scratched in favor of younger players with the Sharks focused on the future, which lowers his value even further. The 36-year-old defender is posting some rough numbers and there's little reason to believe that things are going to improve this year.

Hannan did not skate in practice Sunday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.

It's unclear when exactly Hannan's injury occurred, assuming that is the case, but he reportedly still could play tomorrow. Over 38 games this season, the blueliner has recorded just one point.

36 games into the season Hannan has offered very little in terms of fantasy, registering a single assist and no goals this season.

Hannan didn't exactly tear it up last year with three goals, nine assists, and an average of .93 shots per game through 56 games, but he's contributing even less this season for fantasy owners. Aside from his single point, his shot average is down to .58 shots per game. He also brought owners just a shade under a penalty minute per game and he's much lower than that this season as well. If you're rostering Hannan there are likely to be better options on the wire.

Hannan picked up an assist in his 22:34 of ice time in Tuesday's win over the Oilers.

It was the first point of the season for Hannan, who has suited up in 23 games. As neither a proficient scorer nor an active hitter on the blue line, Hannan offers minimal fantasy value.

Hannan was removed from Saturday's game versus the Islanders after the first period due to an undisclosed injury, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.

Hannan took a hard hit from the Isles' Cal Clutterbuck that resulted in his early exit, forcing many of the Sharks' blueliners to play inflated minutes. The nature of Hannan's injury likely won't be known until the Sharks resume practicing. Hannan has no points and a minus-1 rating over 11 games this season, skating primarily as a member of the Sharks' third defensive pair.

Scott Hannan has agreed to a one-year, $1 million contract with the San Jose Sharks.

Hannan had 12 points and 55 penalty minutes in 56 games in 2013-14. It's likely that Hannan's role with the Sharks will be limited next season. At the age of 35, he's more of a mentor for the team's younger blueliners than anything else.
